I bought this device as a backup for my Nokia C3, I paid $29 on line and got a $10 rebate, so what do we get for $19? The proprietary os seems to work well, as do the various apps, the camera is fairly good and the video camera gives you a choice of Mp4 or 3gp formats. Since it's a feature phone, AT&T allows for unlimited data, which is important if you watch YouTube rtsp streams a lot. The device looks very nice and the back is easy to remove, the memory card (32 mb) lives under the battery, so hot swapping is not possible. In use, the device makes calls well and sounds very good, the Qwerty keypad does feel cheap, but works well. My only real complaints is the Wap browser, which as you can guess is quite basic, but useable once I changed the homepage from AT&T / Yahoo to Google, and the battery life.

I would not recommend this phone to anybody. The buttons are way to small. You can't customize or change ringtones, nothin to personalize it. I dropped it once on concrete, the screen completely shattered. The only thing I found useful about this phone is its flashlight. Oh and don't even get me started on how cheezy it is, there is dumbass duck animation whenever you send a message, the web browser is just complete shit. I tried using it once to go on facebook. It took me about 10 mins just to get to the log in screen. So. Basically this phone is just a $30 flashlight.

One of my wives bought this as a cheap backup for her Samsung Galaxy Precedent, when it malfuntioned. She notes the Alcatel looks and feels like her old Nokia C3, and does everything reasonably well. For $ 29usd she feels she got an excellent deal.
