Android 4.4.4 coming to Motorola DROID Maxx, Ultra and Mini

10 July, 2014

Verizon's exclusive Motorola DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra and DROID Mini will be getting Android 4.4.4 KitKat update very soon. The test firmware has been seeded already to the registered Motorola testers on its Feedback Network.

The three DROIDs have been treated with Android 4.4.2 KitKat already and it seems they will be all skipping the 4.4.3 bug fix update in favor of the more recent 4.4.4 firmware. Both Android revisions contain crucial bug fixes with no major feature additions. Here is the official change log for the Motorola DROID Maxx:

  • Latest Android 4.4.4, KitKat
  • Improved camera picture quality
  • Contactless payments with Isis Wallet
  • Enhanced Visual Voicemail

We guess the change log for the DROID Ultra and DROID Mini should be similar to the DROID Maxx's.

This latest update also includes all of the goodies of 4.4.3—such a new dialer, the ability to pause during video recording, and enhanced camera image quality—and includes enhanced security for OpenSSL.

The test build is now available over-the-air and it is about 285MB big.

My Droid Maxx is on 4.4, not 4.4.2, last update May 19th. I don't think the 4.4.2 update ever officially released from Verizon.
