Android L running on Moto G demoed on video

13 October, 2014

Update: Nope, nevermind, it's just Android L-themed CyanogenMod 11.

Recent Motorola phones have a near-Nexus status when it comes to software updates, even the mid-range Moto G. A developer got Android L running and recorded a six minute video demo of Google's latest iteration of its mobile OS.

The biggest change here since Ice Cream Sandwich (or rather since Honeycomb, really) is the new UI design language dubbed Material Design. You can see the Material versions of the dialer, Hangouts, Gmail, the calendar and a few other apps. The notification are has changed too.

After watching the new boot animation you may want to jump to the 2 minute mark as it takes a while for Android to complete its usual initial boot process. There's a lull in the middle of the video but don't miss the new lockscreen, which starts at 5:40.

The video is in Spanish (it was shot by a Mexican developer) and the video quality is poor but it's pretty clear that Android L (unencumbered by custom skins) is flying on the Snapdragon 400 chipset, even in such an early development phase.

Thanks to lovehater for sending this in!
