Apple points to Corning as iPhone screen glass maker

05 March, 2012

Apple have posted a page detailing how the company is supporting half a million US jobs on their site and digging through it we find something very interesting.

A confirmation that Corning is actually the manufacturer of the iPhone's screen glass in the words - "Corning employees... who create the majority of the glass for iPhone."

We're not sure what "the majority" means but we're guessing that it's either only the front glass is Corning's or they are referring to the availability of a second supplier. Most manufacturers have several suppliers for one and the same part as an emergency backup.

We're not really sure why Apple decided to keep their working relationship with Corning a secret but it's out now. No word on the iPad screen though.

I think you will find its extremely difficult, most "gorilla glass" smashes are actually LCD cracks NOT gorilla glass, besides Gorilla glass can protect from horizintal (side) impacts which smash most glasses

Guys, I own a Nokia N8 with Gorilla glass... And I can say that it CAN GET SCRATCHED.. Although, that's possible but quite rare. My N8 has 2 very minor scratches, which are hardly visible, but I have no memory how I caught them...
