Galaxy S7 and S7 edge update on T-Mobile brings FM radio support

Vlad, 04 May, 2016

T-Mobile has started rolling out a new update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge units it's sold. This new release brings with it support for FM radio playback, as well as some bug fixes and performance improvements. Perhaps the most important of those have to do with the functionality of the power and volume keys - bugs in this area should have been eradicated.

The new software also incorporates the May security patches, so it will make your device more secure too. The update comes in at around 164MB, and it's going out over-the-air. You should receive a notification about it within the next few days, as the rollout is staged. If you don't want to wait, you can manually check for the availability of the new update by going to Settings > About device.

After having applied the update, your phone will be on software version G930TUVU2APD7 for the Galaxy S7, and G935TUVU2APD7 if you have the Galaxy S7 edge.

This was my first samsung galaxy. And probably the last. I just cant believe-how can they not include the fm radio in the IP68 device?? (where you could listen to radio while fishing, for example). Even my old SE Xperia Arc has the fm tuner!

I think qualcom processors only have inbuilt radio tuners but not exinos which are supplied to other parts of world. We feel cheated with absence of fm radio and Ir blaster which luxury Samsung could have gladly included in such costly phone
