Huawei Ascend P6S leaks in pictures

19 November, 2013

Huawei Ascend P6S with an octa-core CPU was supposedly confirmed two days ago by the company’s president Xu Xin Quan. Today we got a new leak though and this one sharply contradicts the previous information.

The new details on the Huawei Ascend P6S come straight from the China's TENAA certification authority. This time around we get to see a few live pictures of the device plus a glimpse of its specifications.

Huawei Ascend P6S

The P6S looks exactly the same as its predecessor, it even weighs 120 grams, but is 0.3mm thicker. That's quite odd, since a previous leaks has showed us the Ascend P6S actually weighs 166g and is 7.6mm thick.

The Ascend P6S will keep the same 4.7" IPS 720p display, but will run on a completely new chipset manufactured on a 28nm process. The new SoC will allegedly boost the overall performance up to 80%, while at the same time halving the power consumption.

There is some mishap with the chipset name in the leaks, but it will be most probably the next generation HiSilicon K3V3. It is based on the ARM big.LITTLE architecture with a 1.8GHz dual-core Cortex-A15 and a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A7 processors. The GPU in charge of graphics is Mali-T658 and there is 2GB of RAM.

The camera department is also identical with the Ascend P6 - you get a 8MP rear and a 5MP front camera.

The test device of the Ascend P6S ran on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but Huawei is expected to update the P6 with KitKat in January, so we might see the P6S run on Android 4.4 KitKat once it goes official.

I hope the new cpu isn't as hot as current one, seeing it less power consumption then it should be cooler.
