Yeah, you may call it a Horror :)
My first powerful Android-phone. Staggering (on paper) equipment shows bad results in daily use. Disgusting SoC by HiSilicon ruins whole positive experince. You won't be able to run any big game or run heavy apps and expect proper multi-tasking.
Both cameras are fine. 8MP-shooter is fine in good lighting, macro is also fine, video recording is on point for device from 2012. Frontal-facing camera snaps good selfies.
Screen offers you some quality image. 720p fits very well. Auto-brightness works correctly. LED notification is amazing (pretty rare feature back in those days).
Stereo-dynamics powered by Dolby Digital are very loud and clear! Seriously, I was amazed by sound' quality.
Battery is 2150 (or 2230) mAh, which is fine. But that smartphone is voracious. You may expect it to long for 11-13 hours of heavy use or 1.5 days of moderate use. (Well, it depends on what ROM you'd installed and how old your battery is).
I also fond of its size - pretty compact, but thick (>10mm). Feels solid in hand. I have to add that Honor 2 is sturdy. Its case is bulletproof and Gorilla Glass protects your screen, so no need to worry.

Of the 8Gb internal memory, how big (or little)... moreDepends on which rom you have installed. With official 4.0.4 you get like 5.3 Gb free (internal memory). I updated mine with Official 4.2.2 rom (emu 1.6). i think i had like around 4.8 GB free. you can always move your apps to the SD card if you manage to easily cap your internal memory.

I think it has a custom ROM... moreIf your phone came with a moddem rom and you are trying to install an original rom, you probsably need to flash your Recover. for this phone, you can have chinese recovery (for installing modded roms) and origina recovery (for official rom instalation). The official rom instalations are those update.aap you mentioned. that file should be inside a folder called "dload" at root directory of your SD card. for more info, try looking at XDA developers (google it)
