Huawei Honor 9 official: 5.15" DCI-P3 screen, 12MP + 20MP dual camera, Kirin 960 chipset

Feign surprise, everyone, Huawei unveiled the Honor 9. Rumors got all the specs correctly. The Huawei Honor 9 boasts a 5.15” 1080p display, with DCI-P3 color space (also used on the iPhone 7 and Galaxy S8). It’s the window to its Android 7.0 Nougat soul (with EMUI 5.1 on top).

The heart is HiSilicon’s premium Kirin 960 chipset, same as the Mate 9 and P10. And with a generous 6GB of RAM, more than either of those flagships. Storage is a choice between 64GB and 128GB, both expandable (hybrid SIM slot).

The dual camera on the back - a combo of 12MP and 20MP sensors - features 2x optical zoom, portrait and bokeh modes. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera.

Alongside the Honor 9, the company is launching Huawei Pay, its own mobile payment solution, and the Honor 9 supports it (it works over NFC, as usual). Additional connectivity specs include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi ac and - huzzah! - a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The phone’s metal body has a glass back and will come in Grey, Blue and Amber Gold and it houses a sturdy 3,200mAh battery. Standby for a smart band.

The Huawei Honor 9 will be available on June 16 (this Friday) at Vmall, JD and six other Chinese retailers (it will be a coordinated, simultaneous launch). You're looking at CNY 2,700 ($400/€355) for the 64GB model and CNY 3,000 ($440/€395) for the 128GB one. For comparison, the P10 (64GB) is CNY 3,800.

Wow and wow again, am very much impressed by what I see. This is more beautiful and the high end specs will surely make sure that the phone performs amazingly even than the honor 8. I was disappointed before but I am impressed now. I might even order...
