iOS 8 beta 4 is now available for developers

21 July, 2014

The fourth beta version of the upcoming iOS 8 is now ready for developers to download and play with. It comes around two weeks after the third beta saw the light of day, and as you might expect it brings with it many small improvements.

If you already have iOS 8 beta 3 on your iPhone or iPad, the update will come to you over-the-air. Otherwise, you can get it from the iOS Developer Center.

The new iOS 8 beta brings polish all-round, and the Control Center has been redesigned. In Settings, a new Display & Brightness section has appeared, separated from the the wallpaper picker, and a Home Data icon has showed up in the Privacy section.

The Bug Reporter app that came preinstalled in earlier betas has been removed, all while new options for Handoff have surfaced. The Messages section in Settings was improved too, as has been Contacts. A few tweaks have been applied to the icon for bookmarks in Safari and the keyboard settings.

But perhaps the biggest addition in this beta release is the Tips app. This gives you tips on how to use iOS 8 on a weekly basis. It offers help with quick notification responses, sending voice messages, using Siri, and more. This app can't be uninstalled, but it may prove quite useful, especially for those who are new to iOS.
