if you are going to compare the ipad icons with surface tablet live tiles, i think the live tiles give more information than dead icons.

Better chipset (quad core vs dual core, the pro has ivy bridge i5 cpu and both have 2gb ram vs 1gb ram on ipad), better design (has a kickstand and the RT is thinner than the ipad), better connectivity (has usb 2.o on RT, 3.0 on pro), surface has expandable memory with sd cards (up to 64gb), surface has more useful apps (word, excel, powerpoint come free with the RT, pro will support all windows apps, and u can install flash on the pro so u dont have to buy apps from a store when u can find them online for free, RT supports more flash websites than ipad), a keyboard that doesnt need to be connected over bluetooth (bluetooth drains battery and can be insecure), surface arguably has the better screen (16:9 is much better for watching movies and displaying websites, and the surface screen can get brighter (more nits than ipad screen)), surface has a useful bezel (u swipe it to close apps, bring up settings, etc), surface has much better multitasking
see how providing selective information can skew results?

I preordered the Surface. Microsoft Store UK managed to take the money out of my account twice and CANCELLED my order anyway.

So small screen... It's boring! pls come out with A4 size screen.. 14"... 8gb ram, 128gb SSD, HDMI port.. >20000mAh battery, USB3.0/Thunderbolt.. not the old tech usb2.0 pls....zzzz

This device (RT version) will not be a competition at all for android/apple due the software restrictions/limitations. I am very happy with my computers running windows 7, so maybe I will replace my hardware in three years time when windows 9 is released. Talking about productivity I prefer to wait until February/March when microsoft will release the office suite for android and iOS. However you cannot go wrong with the surface PRO version in case you are planning to buy a new system.

I looked at it today in Microstore. Bad screen resolution versus iPad retina, Surface is useless in portrait mode. The only thing I liked was the desktop mode with the file browser, Explorer, else such tablet is too heavy and having too low resolution for 10 inches for web surfing, the small text is fuzzy, too narrow on portrait mode to keep it for reading web. Way better the iPad retina for web surfing.

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2012Camera can be better, why th.e 1.3mp?yes camera can be better, but the purpose of this camera isn't to take pictures, its strictly for video calling. Thats why even though its. 1.3mp, it still does HD video calling.
Besides, people who take pictures with thier tablets look like an |d|ots...
get a real camera or a cell phone with a camera...dont start raising your tablet in the air like a crackhead trying to take pictures with a 10inch rectangle frame
