If you install a custom ROM you will lose active notifications and touchless controls. That is kind of the point of buying this phone.

The 4G is supported in the phone in the UK. Surely it will be in other countries in Europe.

Right now there are no method to unlock the bootloader AT&T and Verizon (yet), Motorola will not give you the unlock code for it. If you want to install custom rom, you'll need the T-Mobile/Unlock version or Sprint version.
If you want to use the Moto X on ATT, get the T-Mobile/Unlock version. It support all the 3G and LTE frequencies that are required by ATT and it's sim unlocked. The ATT version is sim locked, no way to unlock bootloader yet, and have ATT carrier branding and bloatwares, not to mention it may be that you will get updates faster with the Unlocked version. So there is effective no reason why you should get the ATT version for this phone at all.

All the developer edition mean is that you can unlock the bootloader and not lose your warranty. Otherwise it is the same as the T-Mobile/Unlock version, which will lose warranty if you unlock bootloader. Otherwise, they both essentially run the same software and get same updates. They will not have bloatwares, except for integrated Motorola apps. Even other carrier branded version doesn't have much bloatwares.
Also it doesn't make sense for the Moto X to come as a Google Edition device since it will miss out on Motorola features like Active Display and always listening. If you want were to install stock Android on it you will lose these unique features, so then there is no point to buy this phone, might as well just get a Nexus 5 for the same price which is a faster phone with better specs, but without Moto X features (always slightly less battery life due to lacking Moto X optimization).
There is a Moto G Google Edition, if you don't need the Moto X features, get that instead.

kishan, 27 Jan 2014which moto x version will work in india? Get the Unlocked GSM version, which is also the T-Mobile version (unbranded). However, it won't support LTE in India, since base on Wikipedia India use LTE Band 40 which the Moto doesn't support. You will get 3G and HSPA+ though.
