What we are seeing here ladies and gents, with all the news releases left and right on how great Moto X is as a smartphone is the $500M budget allocated by Google working to promote this mid-range phone.
A smartphone is one of the very few things where we need to be very careful with our decisions and choices. I need you to be very discriminating. Is Moto X worth owning for the next two or three years? Even upon its release the tech inside it is already behind -- what more by December - end of this year? How will this phone fare when HTC One Max, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, new Oppo Find 5, and even CrApple's iPhone 5S are finally released by the holidays?
You worked hard to earn your money -- shouldn't your phone able to work hard for you too? Be careful. Be wise.

My first impression was it was too expensive in comparisions to the specs it has to offer but it actually has a total of 8 cores (dual core processor, quad core graphics processor, 1 dedicated core for contextual computing and another core for natural language processing) and the battery does last between 18 to 22 hours with slightly greater use than regular.

i understand that it is not about specs but about experience...but at least propose it at a reasonable price...it is illogical to be as costly as a galaxy s4 which is much faster with better and bigger screen..even slimmer...illogic...no thanx notorola and google
last thing....for a flagship as they call it...at least put the biggest battery you have (i.e. 3500 Mah)

People are very funny. Google makes a lot of money through Android OS and other services. And they did buy Motorola for patents to protect the OS against mainly Appel.
To day the make the Moto X and build their own chipset to add additional featurings on what comes with the normal CPU like S4 Pro used on the Moto X.
Funny enough, Google master his own Operating System and knows where is going with it and does choose to put advance or high CPU for is OS to run smoodly. That why the X is a High end phone but seem to be mid range.
Funny and very funny the Moto X does what other High end phone can't.
The Moto X is the only phone in this planet to really being "Touchless" and that powered by Moto own made Chipset called X8.
Does Moto care to beat Samsung or Sony? No, No, No
Because all those company can make money because of Google Motorola. But Google would like to beat Appel on his iPhone series.
Google doesn't rush to show up is ultimate device in the market but the best experience device in the market which is simple the Moto X.
At the end if Moto does the Nexus, it will be a Nexus product but not a Moto one although it made by Moto. And this will follow the Nexus program not the Moto one.
Jealousy, jealousy, jealousy is not good. Moto made the best Android ever the Droid or Millestone as pure Android phone and was the best android 2009 and best android seller too. But Moto was along with losed a lot of money previewsly. Still the Droid bring it back to compete in the market.
Today Moto and Google are one. Are you people crazy yo think Moto, I mean Google will not make money or lose by making Android phone?
Keep on Dreaming all your companies (Samsung, Sony, HTC, LG and so one) need deadly the Android OS.

So tell me was the Moto X8 Chipset Computer System last year? And if it was which company used it?
Xavier, this is not Samsung phone. This is the only phone in the all world that can got this Motorola technology. Which allows you to use the "Touchless" option powered by X8 Computer System.
Meaning with a screen locked you can still use your phone without touching it.
HERE IS ALL ABOUT EXPERENCE NOT SPECS

There is nothing new. Everything that this phone has can be found on any other version of android devices released last year. Nothing attractive.

We will see with what kind of innovation will come Moto and Samsung next year. I am sure Samsung is going to do something awesome too by next year.

Many people are complaining about the CPU of this phone but If Moto Manager to make a Chipset of 8 cores meaning they can buid and can ra 12 cores or more.
Anyway Moto Nexus may come soon rumor says.
Maybe the Moto X with Intel Chipset for the international version.
