New report claims the Galaxy Note 5 won't have an auto-eject S Pen

The Galaxy Note 5 is now just a couple of weeks away with an official launch date set for August 13. Naturally, excitement has been growing and rumors flying all over the place. We have already seen quite a few detailed renders, a pretty extensive specs sheet and even some live photos of the Note and the beefy S6 edge+, so we do have a pretty good idea what to expect.

Yet, quite a few details are still widely debated and the S Pen is definitely one of them. Looking at the said renders has led us to believe that the Note 5 will have some sort of push to eject mechanism for dethatching the S Pen, simply because the design suggests that there is no convenient way of pulling it out otherwise. But a new Korean report suggests that the Note 5 won't offer anything special in the way of a new stylus mechanism. Just the traditional manual slide out that has always been around in the Note line.

The info comes courtesy of DDaily who also reiterate that the Note 5 will borrow a lot of its design from the Galaxy S6, including the glass back that seals the battery in. The article also explains that fitting an eject mechanism behind said glass would be difficult and impractical. This could very well turn out to be true, but that still leaves the question of how the S Pen will be removed when it appears to be so tightly enclosed in the chassis.

Another thing the report mentions is the fact that “both sides were bent” on the phone, but it is hard to tell whether this refers to the Note 5 or the S6 edge+. We already know that the Note will be slight rounding toward the edges, much like the Galaxy S6, but on the back rather than the front. And as for the S6 edge+, well its curved screen has been clear since day one. As far as we currently know, the Galaxy Note 5 will be equipped with a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and run on the in-house Exynos 7422 SoC, a reworked version of the already familiar 7420 inside the Galaxy S6. The camera setup should consist of a 16MP primary camera with OIS and a 5MP front-facing one. Memory is set at 4GB for RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Battery capacity should be 4,100 mAh and the exact measurements are 153.3mm x 76.1mm x 7.9mm.
