HTC Leo could be called HD2, oh and there's a video of the UI

26 September, 2009
The HTC Leo has been churning in the rumor mill for quite a while but it's all coming to an end - it's launching in October. On the list of rumors we've assembled for today there's a new name, price and even a video...

Every device has its own purpose, mobile phones are multimedia ones, it's like having dish made of parts from other dishes, you get a bit of all but not the fullest, some like it, some doesn't.Want an supreme pictures? Then buy digital camera, they r slim enough to slip into pocket.Want supreme video? Get camcorder, again pocketable. Why argue over such things, more gadgets make you happy, after all HTC devices are business oriented, not entertainers to the fullest. Did cellps reached the level of user needs mastery? No they didn't and they never will, cause we always want more. And as for those powerpoint shows and any tv outs in general take look at wowwees svivel at wowwee.com u'l be amazed, and again, yeah it's pocketable either. Cheers.

5MP camera is a decent camera. I can think of 10 different ways to display a presentation rather than using your mobile phone. And if your read the article or any of the articles on this phone you would know this phone has neither of feature you wanted in a phone. So why post here blasting this phone. It's not like they are going to suddenly change the design of the phone.

FACT TV output is useful for presentations, decent camera IS useful for evidence gathering. FACT one is not crying, just using this forum in the way it was intended, which is something else you could learn about including the small other matter of mobile phones.

GSEN and Gyrator fix the landscape issue. YOu can also choose what progams you want to have the ability to rotate to landscape. X-da developers forum has a lot of information and programs on most WM phones.

There are a lot of things phone makers can do first (ie, improving sound quality/clarity, battery life, browsing, user interface, design, software support, etc) before concentrating on the 12MP camera, tv-out and making the phone bulky. But hey, if that's your thing, give Samsung or Nokia a try...they've seem to put a lot of effort into making mobile phones bigger and bigger with a lot of useless functions.

It's not like your ideal phone isnt out there; you're just crying to the wrong place.

No TV out are you serious. It's a phone first. Having TV out should not make or break a cell phone. Not changing to landscape in all programs can be fixed by installing additional software so that's not really an issue either. This phone is a monster and I can't wait for it to come to the US.

Anonymous, 28 Sep 2009I think this has TV-out, hasn't it?Rummaging around the web it appears NOT to have TV out which is a serious omission along with only a single speaker, and only certain applications switch to landscape which is a further problem. It seems as if manufacturers deliberately leave out some features to spread the business!!!

What the hell is wrong with you people....don't you know how to read. The video is a brief preview on the new software. The phone used was the Touch Diamond 2, its not the new Touch HD2.

I don't see anything wrong with having a decent camera on a phone. It just saves you carrying around more devices such as digital camera/SLR.

If you don't have a life outside of work or you're simply a geek with no life in front of the computer then fine but people do use phones for business and pleasure!

I think what the cam features commentator's trying to argue is mostly about the "HD" term abuse. It's just ridiculous to use HD for a product name when you already know it's NOT designed for none of it and that does warrant for a "what the eff are they trying to prove here?" remark. It sets a precedent for an annoying trend if any.Plus what's so wrong at sticking with code name all the way till launch?HTC Leo doesn't sound bad at all imo.

I can see only few things bad with this phone.

                                        * HTC camera's in general have terrible optics. I'm not talking about MPx. There hasn't been one decent HTC camera phone which can be compared to the best of Nokia, Samsung, or SE.

                                        * This also applies to the video camera.

                                        * Seems like this one only has a MONO speaker. Again terrible compared to others. Why not have stereo aka 2 speakers in such a large device!

                                        * No TV-Out

This is making me want to go with the Nokia N900. Also for 1Ghz CPU it doesn't seem to be that fast. Maybe the Snapdragon is a bad architecture...
