As for the re-downloads, someone I know developed an iPhone app, he said downloads are unique. Updates and downloads after the initial one don't count. There's only one purchase (even free) linked to your iTunes account per app, the one that you get on the iTunes reciept email.

Re downloaded Apps and updates aren't counted.
I remember every time I used to get a new phone I'd have to start again with applications, or if a repair centre wiped your phone you'd have to buy the applications again, sometimes the were no longer available or wouldn't work with a new phone model.
I spent quite a bit on Vodafone Live games.
With the iPhone you just resync them to any new iPhone or iPod touch you want.

Nokia know they don't have an answer to the iPhone (and now Android phones) without a cross licensing arrangement with Apple, Nokia tried to bully Apple which is in contravention of the F/RAND part of the terms Nokia agreed to licence patents which form part of the GSM standard.
Apple said stfu see you in court.

Hmm, half truth seems to be here... one can spin around and conveniently leave out "re-download" and consider them as downloads (which re-download is still download, ain't it?). Given i had to re-download 5 times of 8pages of apps/games/utils (3 replacements iPod touch, 1 reflashing), that's going to add quite a count there...

So Nokia only have large salefigures cause they sell lowrange phones? It that why N-series has sold over 550 million and E-series over 270 million units?
And the whole appstore thing is nonsense, they can keep track cause Apple has closed software where only iPhone can take crappy 1 dollar Apple software from Appstore.
Samsung and Nokia phones exceedes over 7 billion Java applet downloads in 2009 but they don't throw their figures around like 5 year old kids.
The guy below me says iPhone sold 100 million units, what planet are you from? No, serioulsy dude? I don't even think Apple has even manufactured over 50 million handsets, let alone sold them. In the just this summer iPhone hit the 25 million unit mark, and that includes iPhone, 3G and 3GS since 2007
We are still waiting on the end of 2009 year report which is targeted at 30 million units altogether since 2007.
I'm not anti Apple as i used to have a 3G version, which gave to my sister before switching to Blackberry Bold.
It's irritating to see how blind the Apple following is when they shell out money for en extra digital compass or an extra added 1 mp camera and 1 second faster connection speed.
I can't belive people accept getting ripped of over and over again by Apple, the first iPhone was fine, but after that it's just to sad.

So its probably just over 80 million now, which will probably tick over 100 in the next couple of months. So "just under 100 million" is a marginaly acceptable statement.

The best apps on the Iphone are the games,which most of the top and independant develepors are on. So I think that's Apples saving grace,
Yes i'm a Nokia fan but Nokia need to buck up there ideas man as Nokia fans are getting peed off. Apple I-phone are not going anywhere and won't be dying out, the killer would be if they somehow make it so you can take the battery out just like all other phones.
Nokia Low end phones what keeping them from Dying, Nokia have already out done themselves with the 6300 and N95-8GB, Now you have the 6303, 6700, N96, N97 and Now N900 (N900 still early days) but neither phone can recreate what the 6300 and N95-8GB had.
