This happened to one of my friends. Still no fix for that.
What happens is due to root access, the phone installs lots of unwanted apps.
It consumes all of your data, and installs malicious apps constantly.
You cannot uninstall such apps, it shows in all apps section (these apps are provided by company) instead of downloaded apps section. And these apps uses identifiers like com.android.___

Chinese manufacturers have not been asked to provide back doors for the Chinese government. US manufacturers such as Cisco, Fortinet and Juniper have.

Mediatek is mostly known for cheap hardware that never gets updated.

I hope this will take away your remarks on big data and cybercriminality. For instance I never used and I will never use Facebook or any open social network. Ever.
By the way, you made me curious: what do cybercriminals actually target? You said that I don't know and you imply that you do know. Just enlight me, please. They didn't told this to us 20 years ago when I graduated university.
And the remark on Hitlerism is way too low, really. This is a different century.

What did you expect to a chinese manufacturer? They say it's a bug, but it was really intended to spy on you until discovered by an analyst. That's how important security analyst is.

                            Silly argument to make.

Inferring "anti-capitalism" from a comment where having a meaningful (for profit) work-life is stated reinforces the lack of something else in another department.

Mediatek is producing great chipsets like X10. LeTV 1S with X10 SOC has 49700 result on Antutu benchmark , and Galaxy S6 Edge which costs like 4 times more have 50300. Main advantage of Mediatek SOC is price. They are very cheap and offer best performance per price ratio. X20 chipset which will come in February will be even 50% better than X10.

the news is they confirmed the bug. which means they are aware of it and such bugs will be prevented in new chips. which is a good thing. I am a computer engineer and I can verify only good companies who are able to fix bugs verifies the bug. otherwise usually we get the bugs publicly disclosed by the angry security researchers for denying the bug or for ignoring them. since they confirmed it and made it public we can understand they are mature at handling bug reports
