You do know that Nokia made the 9210, the first real device that could do everything that these new phones can.
the 9210 is the father of today's smart phones.
I wouldn't be amazed if apple was found guilty of patent infringement.

Did you know Steve Jobs uses a blackberry phone and no the iphone do you know why? Because iphone is a toy and Blackberry is a smartphone with really usefull features ....what kinda modern smartphone doesn't have a real application switcher,home screen where i can see some simple notifications,doesn't come with pre-installed office viewer apps.Blackberry,nokia,android,windows mobile are better devices when compared to your dumb toy. and don't tell me because iphone sells it means its is the best handset the legendary nokia 1100 sold more units than all your itoys put together 2G,3G,3Gs does it mean it has better features than your itoy?

Although the n8 does look good both hardware and on paper, but knowing symbian's track record, I really doubt if it can deliver as smoothly as the iphone can, or even as smoothly as android devices can. But I want to be fair and give the n8 the benifit of a doubt :)

Well, its a fact that every Nokia phone till date are very bad in performance. 99% of the Nokia phones hang and run as if Crysis(TM) is being played on a Pentium(R) processor and an on-board graphics card (very very very very slow). Apple i-Phone on the contrary is a smooth and fast cellphone. If you have not yet stolen Apple's technology and patents, then Nokia, you need to do it to survive. And by the way people, just look who's saying that Apple has infringed!!! Joke of the century. 10/10

Do not compare Apple's UI approach to your Nokia. Unlike Apple, Nokia does not care whether a feature would cause their devices to crash, freeze up, and lag. Nokia will just cramp their devices with features to impress buyers, regardless if that feature would compromise performance or sloppily implemented. Heck, Nokia does not even care where their users get their 3rd party apps. In short, Nokia does not have quality control that Apple has. Apple wants to implement multitasking, the practical and efficient way. Multitasking that makes practical sense, just like the scenario that I have given below. Here's the logic. Some apps don't really NEED to run at the same time. They just need to be suspended, that way it will not compromise performance and will also save battery life. Is there anything wrong with that approach? Of course not. Especially when the iphone OS can. Symbian can't. Because with Symbian devices, the moment you close an app, that's it, when you open it up again, you would need to start over again.

user hits the home button. The nokia low end devices that runs s40(nokia x3) can easily do this and we don't consider the phone to be truly multitasking. Running various applications au the same time will drain the battery doesn't necessarily mean your battery wouldn't last a day or so,i used nokia e71 and ran many apps in the background throughout the day but still the phone lasted for 2 to 3 days. I have nothing against the iphone it is a great device but it just doesn't have enough power to satisfy me,the iphone will never give me the internet experience i get in my nokia n900 and i am a heavy internet user. My iphone 3G now remains as my music device and for simple calls and text messages. Lets not criticise devices without using them first they all have their pros and cons

Let me give you guys a scenario why the iphone does not need a more extensive multitasking feature and why your nokia phone does.
Let's say I am writing a note in my notes app on my iphone. A pop up message appeared saying you got a text message. With the iphone, I can get out of my notes app, read and reply to a text message. Press the home button, press the notes app icon, and I am back where I left off. Mission accomplished with less battery consumption.
With a Nokia device, you cannot close that note app, because the moment you do, you have to reload that file again. So you need to keep in running in the background, reply to your text message, pull up your task manager, click on your notes app and get back to what you were working on.
It took the same number of steps, but with the iphone, you save more battery life. With your nokia device to accomplish the same tasks, you eat up more battert life, and there's even risk that your nokia device would lag and crash, lol.

Yes I am smart, while you are dumb to add up unit sales of all nokia smartphone devices, even the low end ones, and compare it to the iphone :) Now on battery life, most if not all, smartphone users have always something to complain about it, not just the iphone. But since the iphone is the most used smartphone, naturally it would have a short battery life.
Your phone needs more extensive multitasking capabilities because that is the only way you could get back to your app the fastest and that's the only way you could get back to where you left off, and that is why your device needs to keep them running in the background :) With the iphone, you can close an app, that way it does not use battery life, open another app and do whatever, and when you need to go back to the other app, it opens exactly where you left off as if it was running in the background. No need to reload a document like you would in your device :)

If you just need to listen to the song and does not need to watch the video, this playing Videos in the background helps a lot as you need not get the songs MP3 version.
I miss this feature as S60v5 (Touch Symbian) do not support this. Curse Core player!!

I see you are smart enough to not deny that Nokia's sell more smartphones than the Iphone.
And about the battery, last time I checked, the Iphone had one of the worst battery lives of most smartphones. It is worse than the Nokia 5800s as I have heard many people complaining that their iphone charge does not take them throughout the day. Anyway, here are stats:

Also, just because I can run many apps together does not mean that I always keep them on. I use the phones multitasking capability only when needed. Otherwise the only app running in the background in the Fring (Skype, MSN, Google talk and Fring) App and gives me no battery problems.
Please, are you telling me that you can close your email app and then start your word processor (and load up the document) faster than I can switch between them on my 5800???
Its instantaneous. The half second I told earlier was because you need to hold down the menu key for half a second to access the task manager. The actual switching is instantaneous.
Let us refrain from over-exaggeration please.
