You can't have a 12mp camera phone without the chunk, like my N8 popping out the case and the X10 Experia is a lot thicker than it looks. No doubt LG will come and show us where I work when the time comes. I want to see how the 1080p capture compares to my N8's 25 fps (DVD) quality capture.

I was looking at the Video Comparison (by the way gsmarena, I am impressed by your camera tool comparison)and I realized that the OPTIMUS 2X video picture is a little bigger than the iphone 4 and N8. I am currently using the iphone 4 and I think the iphone's video recording angle is very narrow already, does that mean the OPTIMUS 2x is even norrawer?

They invested too much on the new technology to allow themselves to have unsatisfied users again. But as you said, let's see what Samsung and Apple (and HTC) are about. HTC would be my favourites if they will have competitive hardware, they provided software updates as fast as Apple.

I don't wan't to lug a DSLR about everywhere, most people aren't experienced enough to use DSLR's past their auto settings anyway. Picture this, you're on your way home from work and the sun is setting and it's beautiful but you can't take a photo because you left your really expensive camera at home!

However, when LG do use Schneider-Kreuznach lenses, it makes a massive difference on the camera quality which you'll see on their Viewty range. LG have the tech but by the time this phone comes out, Samsung (who also make screens like the Super AMOLED) and probably Apple will have something up their sleeve. When ever I have got my hopes up about LG phones, they always let me down when they are in my hand, looking cheap and rushed. The Chocolate being the only exception!

Now it's Froyo and Gingerbread, Honeycomb is to follow and it will support dual core processors. Also the N8 resolution does not fit well with Android apps. The N8 hardware is 2 years old, it cannot cope with the new Android apps requirements.
Android phones will have 12 and 16 MPix cameras, the technology is there, and the work to implementing them is in progress.

If it is not there, the camera would not even be there. The reason why it protrudes is because the phone needs it to accumulate space for bigger lens. Don't you notice all those other high end phones without the protruding lens has good 5MP cameras(well, most of them), and those 8MP shooters are either fixed focus(Nokia?), or the image quality is mediocre?

Anonymous, 02 Feb 2011I hope the Android phones will never be "improved"... moreAt 20-30cm the Nokia N8 really comes into it's element, only camera's with an actual macro lense do any better! Just use the close up function on it. Android's brilliant but the fact LG make screens for the Iphone 4 and don't even use it is a testement to the level of hardware they are willing put in their own phones. Always one step behind the other manufactures. Symbian is poor I agree, but Nokia more than make up for it in hardware and finish. Plus the free sat nav, which can work offline without data. Get android on my N8 and I would be in heaven!

Try getting picture of an object from 20-30 cm with that junk called N8. You might need that for business card recognition software, text recognition of text on A4 sheets, bar code scanner apps, etc.
Far away objects pictures is the only thing N8 is good of something.
I'm happy that Android apps work (not like most Ovi apps) and you can get a refund. I'm happy that the Android browser is blazing fast, that it loads Flash 10.1 pages, and supports HTML 5.
I'm happy that now we will have the best games on the mobile market on Android. I'm happy that Android phones will record 1080p, that they will have 3D screens and 3D cameras. I don't give a sh** about Nokia, they practically have nothing of real use.

that the battery does not last 2 days. If you keep the GPS, bluetooth and wifi on the whole time, then Indeed battery is consumed very vast. But If you switch these things of when you are not using it, saves lot's of battery ;)

I just don't understand what's up with the trend of pointed out camera lenses. Forst Nokia N8 and now this. So every time you place phone down it will rub just that camera edge. And lens sticking like that out is just calling for damage. In the past they used to do the opposite, hide the lenses deeper into case to prevent damage. Weird.
