Samsung Galaxy Nexus to get an upgraded GPU?

31 January, 2012
A benchmark result lists PowerVR SGX544 instead of SGX540. The CPU is clocked higher than usual too.

It's still not enough to top the dual core SGX543MP2 in the Apple A5.

cjdelphi, 01 Feb 2012mali 400gpu is one of the worst GPU's i've ever come across... moreYou should try chainfire 3D, it's even better with 4x antialiasing. Asphalt6 works perfect on SGSII and it's free on samsungapps.

I ran nenamark on my i9100, 1st time got 51.6 and the rest were around 49 mark, on the stock 2.3.6, my transformer prime on 4.0.3 got 56.4.
The powerVR 544mp2 is very quick but I would like to see the benchmark on a PS Vita which is the 544mp4+ and a quad core A9, I want to see android running on that...

Hi, 31 Jan 2012The best android gpu is mali 400 The best phone gpu is th... moremali 400gpu is one of the worst GPU's i've ever come across, yes it's fast, but that's about it, it's no where near complete vs a powerVR GPU..

If you have a galaxy 2, play asphalt 6 (you'll notice little red tracer lines lines where the game fails to render some of the objects thanks to the lack of API support from the GPU)

Try Fast 5(if you find it) it runs but all you can see is outlines of polygons and stuff.

From the market place, try Real Racing 2, it crashes on the first lap, power VR GPU on the other hand has no issues..

Sad to say but my Galaxy 1 may run slower and gets whipped, but it's stable enough to play all those games and more... the Mali 400 GPU simply curls over and dies...

Stick with PowerVR or Tegra, mali sucks (fast at what IT CAN do) but sucks in real world for 3D gaming...

            powervr sgx543mp > Mali 400.
its benchmark score is twice that of mali 400.
i think galaxy s3 should be integrated with this gpu.

The PowerVR SGX 543MP2 in the iPhone 4S/iPad 2 is being utilized in games like Infinity Blade II, Asphalt 6, Real Racing 2, Bike Baron, Galaxy on Fire 2, Sky Bandits: Rise of Glory, ect...because of the big userbase but this SGX 544 won't.

Both 4460 in the Nexus and 4470 in this benchmark are heavily underclocked. 4460 in the Nexus is like a 4430, GPU runs at a 308MHz, not the full 384MHz. This 4470 has a CPU clocked at 1.3GHz when it really should be 1.8GHz. This sole fact suggest that the 544 is running at around 200MHz.
