Intel owns the market for desktop/laptop cpu with their core i* series. However, that's not the case with mobile cpus. Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, Nvidia Tegra 3, TI OMAP, Samsung Exynos are all good options. Cell phone audio quality doesn't really matter ; to get real quality, you need to hook it up to a soundsystem, ear phones, etc.

Great idea!
Now we will all get newest updates, no OEM+carriers crap and multiple smartphone choice!
Hurrah!
And I also agree with "sdude" below my post, such phone would rock, but it'll never happen! :(

I think they should all concentrate on one phone the CPU off Intel the screen off the Samsung the sound off a HTC the design off the Motorola Razr the camera off the Xperia s and this would be a great phone.

It would be nice if the next Nexus phone from Moto will be named as REXUS, The Next King of Nexus Family (Razr-Nexus) or Nexus R.

Unlocked phones may be a rarity in USA and Europe
But 99% (sic) phone sold in India is unlocked
Number Portability exists which allows to change carrier without switching number
And this is an excellent initiative by google
This can allow for better choices (a nexus device with a physical keyboard , metal body, xenon flash...please , smaller screens or bigger screens)
And a single ROM for all the devices

> In reply to MyName @ 2012-05-17 01:02 from Spx{ - click to readIt's pretty obvious that the top 5 android makers would be the OEM choice for the next Nexus phone, It's a bold yet great move by Android, Samsung loves equipping worse hardware on their phones so having more (and probably better) choices would make Google phones a much better alternative from the bloated custom android phones we've been seeing right now.

> In reply to WhosNext? @ 2012-05-16 19:11 from 2Zd{ - click to readI have read that but thanx to put this link here. I use to tell this man called "MobileMaster" that Google does not need Motorola only for the patent but even more.
Google love Moto's hardware and build quality.
Google said :
"We did it for more than just patents,"
Schmidt said, adding, "the Motorola team
has some amazing products."
Google didn't drop $12.5 billion just for patents...

Google's secret weapon "Webtop" form Motorola
Here :
http://m.zdnet.com.au/google-s...39336545.htm
Now for the Upcoming Android OS 5.0 Google already integrated Motorola's Webtop functions to run Android like Desktop PC.
So Google need Motorola more than any company in the Android world not even Samsung come close to Google's needs for Moto.
