Fragmentation is the denial of a whole numerical update rather than just missing a few features.

so lets be clear, android "fragmentation" means:

-you might not get the newest and greatest os but the feature in it is the same , OS update is more like enhacemets on the core system itself. and added extra feature, like face unlock , data manager.

                  IOS "fragmentation" means :

-you will get the greatest OS with patches on system added a basic fungtionality like facebook intergration adn reject call with sms, but cant have the same important feature like video call over 3g unless you jailbreak or get a newer i-device.

                  hmm

iOS is getting more fragmented... Now some of the "features" are not ment for the iPhone 4. So no wyou only have one choice if you don't want to be left behind... for now! The iPhone 4S and that will soon be "outdated" in the Apple universe when the iPhone 5 arrives... (it (the 4S) already is, compared to the competition) ;-)

While Apple may have the majority of its customers using the latest version of iOS, every new software update typically breaks compatibility with a round of older devices. iOS 6 is no exception — we've already learned that the original iPad and third-generation iPod touch wouldn't receive the update at all, but even devices receiving iOS 6 will miss out on some key features. Most notably, only A5 or A5x devices (the iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and new iPad) will get to use the new Flyover and turn-by-turn navigation features in iOS 6. Apple doesn't give a reason for this, so we can't say for sure that the older processor in other iOS devices is the limiting factor here, though it's certainly something all the eligible devices have in common. The iPhone 4 also won't be able to take advantage of Facetime over cellular networks, with the phone's A4 processor again potentially being the limiting factor there.

The iPhone 3GS in particular will be missing out on a number of other features — shared Photo Streams, VIP and flagged email features, and the offline reading list will all be missing in action on the iPhone 3GS. Given that the iPhone 3GS is just about three years old, we can't say we're surprised to see some features not making it over, but it's still a bit of a bummer for those who may have picked it up for free on AT&T recently.

sooo, lets talk about the samsung i9000 get a feature pack instead of ics update officially again . . basically 3gs will only get facebook intergation -,- and a number "6" on system properties

oh yeah! finally! finally Apple managed to creat an OS we can call "totally not out of the game!"

so many new added features, i cant wait to have this. although i doubt that all of this updates are available on the 3gs (remember iOS4 on 3g?)

good job Apple! i'm sure the android fanboys are already preparing their negative puns to defend their on OS.
