    Likely contracts for the 808 will be around 35GBP, with the 808 supplied for 'free', I snould think.

        Remember, WP8 will most likely "only" support 20MP cameras; still pretty good, but nowhere near the 38MP of the 808.

                The war rages on...

                I think the genuine, honest question here is, who is actually going to put up £500 to buy this phone ON TOP of a contract?? Especially when the much more attractive Lumia Pureview will be out in a matter of months?

                I suspect there will be a lot of supporters for this phone, but very few actual buyers...

                        AnonD-58102, 28 Jun 2012They won't be stocking it, http://m.engadget.com/2012/06... moreThe SIM-free price tag for the N8 was 430GBP when I got mine, but I still got my N8 direct from Nokia on 24 month contract (with T-Mobile) for 20GBP per month, with unlimited data use included. Hardly a rip off.

                        I have already acknowledged that the OS clunky in comparison to the rest znd the range of apps isn't nearly as wide. For me, the camera and the sat nav are the selling points. I don't want to carry a separate compact camera to parties or a bar. Where the N8 and now the 808 really shine is the ability to take photos with natural colours indoors and/or at night, because of the xenon flash.

                        I do hope the UK networks do eventually stock the 808. Time will tell.

                          1.) It is bulky, more bulky than the Nokia 808 PureView;
                          2.) It is expensive, probably more expensive than the Nokia 808 PureView;
                          3.) Extra accessories can run up to the hundreds, if not thousands of Euros/Dollars/Pounds;
                          4.) DSLR is not pocketable, Nokia 808 PureView is more portable;
                          5.) DSLR can never have 41MP Sensor nor the features and I/O Hardware, no matter what amount of money you throw at it, unless you buy a 41MP Sensor DSLR right away, but then see point #2 again.

                          So go ahead, buy your DSLR, no pressure. ^_^

                              Got it yesterday for INR 27000.ie,$473 as of today's rate.Was a one-time promotion on homeshop18.The camera's far far far ahead of my S2.Just like the ICS browser of my S2 is far ahead of 808's browser.
                              Some basic comparisons:

                              Where the S2 leads:
                              DISPLAY
                              S2 has more pixels and also a more vibrant sparkling effect.Also,cant seem to use the full 450nits brightness of 808 as mentioned in the gsmarena review.

                              OS
                              Android ICS is far ahead of Belle FP1.FULL STOP.Below are some of the main merits of the OS.

                              BROWSER
                              S2 is far ahead of 808.The page loading time is same but all other features like scrolling,zooming etc..are better in S2.

                              SPEED
                              ofcourse,S2 leads here.Using the 808,you'll have to resign to the fact that you have to see that "loading" icon every now and then.

                              KEYBOARD
                              Again,S2 is lot better than 808's but this one,I think I should review it again after using it for sometime.maybe I will feel more comfortable after sometime.

                              Where the 808 leads:
                              CAMERA
                              808 is miles ahead of S2.In everything-quality,noise,colours,size,zoom etc etc etc.Even the aesthetics,the S2's curved body feels more comfortable to use as a camera.

                              GPS
                              Both of them connect very fast.But the 808 comes with fully preloaded india maps,something that S2 lacks.

                              SOUND
                              808 is better in all-clarity,loudness,headset performance but the default music player again lacks in UI.

                              CALL QUALITY & RECEPTION
                              The 808 appears to give better coverage.And the call quality,especially the mic of the 808 is far better.

                              So,briefing it,an 808 with a 720p Superamoled plus,Dual core and Android would be The King of all phones.

                                    Nokia is using GPU since ages during those time all manufacturer where stuck with single core 100Mhz processor with no GPU
                                    BTW Nokia PV808 and 701 shares same hardware and chipsets (1.3Ghz ARM11 + Broadcom BCM2763 GPU) the only addition PV808 over 701 have is dedicated ultra powerful image processor to process 41MP
                                    and did you saw how a single core 701 performed better than Dualcore SGS2 in 3D performance(Broadcom BCM2763 vs Mali 400)

Most of people do not know that many n series phones had dual cpu, way back. N93 had optical zoom and camcorder like mechanism. E6 had almost 330 ppi screen. So when u think about a powerhouse like 808 , gpu is the most basic thing to have. Did u check gsmarena ? Gpu is more important thing to have than cpu. I have a llano 1.5 ghz quad cpu and dual graphics laptop. It easily outperförms a laptop with much powerful i7 with integrated graphics
