iPhone 5 cannot do simultaneous voice and LTE data on CDMA

14 September, 2012
The reason for this is due to Apple's decision to go with a thinner and lighter design.

This function alone isn't a dealbreaker, but if you pay premium you would also expect to get premium, no?
Well... iFans would argue that this is not needed.
It's true, most of the time this function is really not that important, but what if you download a large file (few hundred MBs) on your brand new LTE supporting phone (100Mbps LTE people!!!) and a call comes in and interrupts your download. I would be pretty darn angry because those greedy American carriers have terrible data limits :(
I also once, maybe twice had this situation: A friend with a dumb phone wanted some bus/train info and I wasn't home to check on my PC. All I did was put him on speaker pressed home button and power up that browser on my phone and here we go!
Guess that isn't possible on the brand new ultra pricey iPhone 5 :/
I always wondered how much does it take for people to realize that they are being scammed.

if I'm on koodo would i still be able to use data and call at the same time? im wondering if i would upgrade but i need to use data and bee on the phone at the same time. whenever my dad needs something he calls me to google something and i have to use my LTE when I'm not at my house. he does this frequently so i really need the data and voice at the same time

Is the iPhone 5 the first LTE phone?

A: No, Apple hasn't been a trailblazer here. The first LTE phones showed up a year and a half ago, from other manufacturers such as Samsung and HTC. This year, it's become a standard feature in high-end smartphones.

It is most likely that Apple tried to avoid LTE patent sue over a file transfer technology as I have never read any news or articles about Samsung LTE phones that are not able to transfer data simultaneously on LTE.

well, you gotta give it to the apple fans... they really know how to become optimistic when a very important feature is not available for them to use... too bad...
