I think they have bad market channels. Here in Nepal you can see Samsung outlets everywhere but not a single HTC retail store. The same in India. You have to buy it from the grey market and that means no support.

It's their mistake. They thought they are huge giant. So, they bumped up phone's prices like samsung. On the other hand Sony and Lg showed their true colour. Hi ha ha ha.

Again an excellent brand is losing their ground because of poor marketing concepts. They should learn something from Samsung

Now they're trying to skimp on things like a sec. cam in their midrangers to keep the costs down and maximise profit.recent eg - htc one v,desire v,desire x,wp 8s but htc will still put a heftier pricetag on them than the competition.
I think they don't have the capability to swamp markets with competitively priced products like samsung,lg,sony can.they have to rely on their small portfolio to give them max profit out of each of their device.

HTC was the leader of touch mobile phones and first one was 2002 the HTC wallaby (XDA) and yes apple made a concept of touc phone n 1984 but it wasn't a mobile phone it was landline and just a concept

The reason HTC lost me is the lack of OTA updates. I had a HTC Desire S, that I purchased unlocked. If you don't sign up with a carrier in my country you won't get the latest OTA... So I was stuck on Ginger Bread... Custom roms are nice, but they are only so good until the next version of Andoird comes around...

They need to change their marketing strategy in order to compete, they have the best phones but they're not the best in selling/advertising....

Perhaps HTC should reconsider their software update policy and focus more on developing customer loyalty. I've had three HTC devices including the Desire HD, each time I've been told no more software upgrades after a short period of time due to technical issues. Did contemplate upgrading to the ONE X but there's no guarantee HTC are capable of providing future updates so I've jumped ship. And I'm sure there are a lot of Desire HD users out there who feel the same.

Nasha, 09 Oct 2012To the Guy who says HTC never innovates....The first phone ... moreStop spewing your fanboism nonsense.

There was many full touch-screen phones on the market before HTC touch(eg. LG Prada) and Apple even had a concept of touch screen phone before 21th century.
And the rest of features&technologies were already been in used or discussed before HTC touched.

I can HTC a credit of playing a major role of early Window Mobile era, but nothing more.

To the Guy who says HTC never innovates....The first phone that lauched a full touch screen with touch flow tech before iphone came out (HTC Touch P3450). Also the first phone to launch a phone with a big 4.3 inch screen(HD2). The HTC One..first phone to record and take pics at the same time. They also have their own HTC Sense which many other companies like samsung have tried to emmulate. I think people are going for more Samsungs thesedays because of Adds and the GN phablet. I am not worried about HTC...they are a small company that keep making profit despite the giants. They will still come upwith more things to get people to buy their phones. I love the HTC Raider for instance. This phone is so underrated . The camera is so great and the phone for a 1.2 ghz processor never lags and yet it never picked up steam in sales.

I agree with most people here that say Htc's marketing is pretty bad. Nonetheless I absolutely love my HTC One X in every way possible , I ditched the S3 and couldn't be happier. I preferred the display on the One X because it looked better to my eyes! No pentile matrix, higher ppi, whites look white, blacks are great, and most importantly brighter with no awful blueish hue. I also noticed the S3's camera could not compete with my HTC device with pictures took at night. Sure both devices have their flaws, I just learned how to love my phone the way it is. Thanks for making a device HTC , hope your marketing gets better!

P.S. I think its kinda weird how the slogan is Quietly Brilliant when most of HTC phones have beats enabled which amplifies bass and treble xD lol

That isn't good news for HTC or phone users in general.

I have just brought a note 2 but like to see healthy competition amongst manufacturers. The other android manufacturers really need to take a leaf out of samsungs books.
