But you're right on everything else, this phone is dirty cheap and has been designed for developing countries were most people just want to call and send SMSs. The FM radio and micro sd slot are a welcome bonus, though...

i know this is a small tiny tingy cheapy phone but is called a PHONE cos among all chunky fat big screened slates called latests, it spelled it's name out loud by being there for us 247 in a month.. I know you all are expecting more quad cored mini mainframes running on 8GB of ram and maybe 20trabite of storage and hyper super HD and and and maybe an OS upgrade of say android 9.0.1 A.K.A 'frozen chicken' or maybe 'pink rice'... Am so going to get this PHONE..

this phone is made for 3rd world countries guys. No joke. This phone will never see the light in countries like USA Canada, Europe and even China. Don't hate on Nokia, it's great they are still servicing in poorer countries.

At this price they should have made it quad band compatible. This regionalization is very stupid nowadays.

DS, 01 Nov 2012Whats the purpose of making all the phones of the same type... moreBecause people buy them, Duh!

Don't think people need a choice only between 4"-5.5" and dual to quad cores.

The low end of the market is a gold mine, particularly for companies like nokia which cater to these extensively.

Don't look down on cheap phones
They serve the main purpose of mobile phones which is "as a mobile phone".
when you said we don't need this kind of phones, have you forgot it's main purpose? phone is not about game and internet, etc.
A phone has to stay ON for a day so others can call you when you're not nearby (family, GF, BF, etc).
So if you have expensive phone which can't be reached, well... you've forgot it's main function

Whats the purpose of making all the phones of the same type? Nokia has a lot of phones in that segment. Why one more of the same type?

What about people who use phones for actually working? They need to do lots of calls and that is it. So buy a cheap and reliable phone, with great battery, sound and connection and that is it.
And what about people like me who use a smartphone and a secondary phone on a second network? I like my primary phone to be top of the range but the secondary one... as cheap as I can so phones like this make pretty good sense even in moder Europe or US

                                "33 days in stand-by" now.... that's nice.

The only thing it is a bit weird is the inclusion of a microSD slot, unless the phone is devoided of internal memory, without a camera, the slot is pretty much useless as it can only be used effectively to store music, and for that I'm pretty sure the target audience of this phone won't be hearing music on the mobile phone, radio perhaps.

Also, 42$ pre-taxes it's too expensive, I remember to see feature phones like this in stores for less than 20€... for that price they could have at least put a better screen, 128x160 is pretty 'blocky', I hope it has color, contrast and brightness on it.

Well... 33 days of stand-by battery is at least nice to have.

Remember guys, 99% of people who use a phone use something like this. Very few people who use a phone use sites like gsmarena to compare all singing, all dancing smartphones. I think its quite cute.

No camera - not sure how potential costumers will see this. Micro SD:YES - GPRS/Edge:YES - Camera:NO. Its an interesting combination. I'm sure a dual sim version will follow soon.
