This is good news.
As a WindowsPhone 7.5 user, I believe that the more manufacturers we have, the better.
That will result in an impressive portfolio of choices, and the prices would be affordable for the average Joe like me.

Cheers
From a Mozambican HTC HD7 owner

Cause their God is not there anymore, who can they copy and steal? All you will see after that, will be a pathetic multicore, ram and screen fight, that is all! They are already doing that for so long and after Nokia innovate, they follow like dogs. But hey, we have multicores:)). Pathetic!!! So pray for Nokia an support it if you want to see a copy of it's innovations in all other crappy phones.

I seriously doubt a device from Microsoft will be more impressive than Nokia's Lumias.

Nokia, HTC and Samsung have launched Windows 8 devices with very high standards of hardware underpinning the OS. Microsoft would have to launch a high quality device to be in keeping with the other offerings on the market. Unlike Android, Windows Phone thankfully insists on minimum standards of quality and hardware.

I saw the advert for the new Lumias and cringed at these Actors who were gushing over it, but I'm quite excited about the new windows.

and i doubt it will be a hit. .by that time, Nokia or HTC was already very far ahead from what Microsoft is cooking right now. .What microsoft will achieve by releasing a smartphone is windows phone popularity, and all the OEMs will benefit.

To be honest, even though I prefer android I hope windows OS goes well, that way there will be more competition and from competition innovation is born, that way we will be able to taste new ideas. That being said I am still going to buy the lg nexus 16gb due to its nice price tag, though next year I will probably not opt to buy a nexus phone due to storage, maybe I will even try a windows phone at some time.
