This is so yuck! Apple is so stupid they tried to make their own maps but it was a failure. This proves that Apple is not the best and no phone is perfect.

Gavin_Is_A_Man, 15 Dec 2012"Apple got EXACTLY what they wanted...Apple laughs so ... moreThat guy is so misinformed. Apple actually tried to make their on maps because they plan on suing Google sometime in the future and didn't want to have their software on Apple devices.

But after Apple maps turning out to be such a fail, they tried their darnest to avoid going back to using Google maps which would in turn be an testament to their failure.

So with all roads closed to them and their backs firmly smack damn up against the wall, and making such laughing stocks of themselves, they had but no choice to go back to using Google maps. And that is the real story.

"Apple got EXACTLY what they wanted...Apple laughs so hard because it has the BEST mapping solutions all available on its Operating System. It even welcomed Google Maps by making it the Highlight of the Maps section in the App store...Apple all laugh and joke together knowing that in the end they got what they asked for in step 1."

I can't work out if that is ignorance, silliness (I won't insult you by saying 'stupidity') or plain trolling... Apple are LAUGHING that their mapping system is CRAP and inferior to Google/Android's? My ex, who was a real iPhone zombie, found her iphone 4 sat nav was nothing like as reliable as the one on my HTC One X, it simply wasn't as good or as fast, it wasn't as clear where you actually were and it drained the battery quicker. Apple's mapping system has been a "fail" for a long time.

Jesus, 14 Dec 2012If it weren't for Apple, Google wouldn't be who they are to... moreSome people just have little understanding of anything to do with products and corporate relationships. Sadly sir you are mistaken Google have held their own since they were first released, broadening from a simple search engine to a video hosting site, to world changing mapping software. They then took Apple head on with their Android OS, almost all of Google's products (all if you don't consider Google Plus) have been market leading/ changing. If we are honest Google made the iPhone, and smart phones in general. The maps app, video streaming at your finger tips and google search that settles any debate/ query in a matter of moments. These are all googles doing and without them the iPhone IMO would be very little besides an app machine that can text and call.

Each time a maps application is used, the trip details are added to the maps database, expanding said database and refining future searches with said app. Google maps apps pre installed in IOS meant Apple was helping it's arch rival assemble arguably the richest maps database one can find on mobile devices today. Thus Apple had no choice but to cease pre installing Google maps in IOS if it wanted it's fledgling map apps to grow. Better to do so now than later. With Google maps now in the App store, Google still have an advantage but not with Apple's help, like before.

Apple got EXACTLY what they wanted!!!

                          1) Apple asked Google to make Maps on iOS as good as it is on Android. Google said NO.

                          2) Apple then REMOVES Google Maps from iOS after over 5 years of being a standard pre-installed app.

                          3) Apple adds its beautiful looking, but flawed, Apple Maps to iOS.

                          4) Google gets jealous and adds Google Maps to the App Store which is BETTER looking than the Android version.

Apple laughs so hard because it has the BEST mapping solutions all available on its Operating System. It even welcomed Google Maps by making it the Highlight of the Maps section in the App store.

Apple all laugh and joke together knowing that in the end they got what they asked for in step 1.

If you think Google, a company which hates Apple, is doing this to be "fair" you are joking.

I used Apple Maps today, to get from Sydney to Canberra (Australia's Capital) and they worked beautifully. Much better graphics than any other maps. So clear, and things like merging lanes and taking exits off highways were executed better than anything else I have ever used.

Its like the Antenna issue in my eyes.. some people swear there is a problem, some dont know what the fuss is about.

I can tell you this Android fans, when Apple has ironed out whatever the problems are, Apple maps will be the best in the world.

Dont doubt it for a second.
