          Let's see..
No one is taking in mind the OS.. (Android jelly bean)
What dis we get in android 4.1? Yep project butter
How is this processor gonna work with android 4.1?
My guess is that the A15 will turn on when you touch the screen for scrolling or opening app and A7 will work when you're listening music or reading something.
Don't forget that project butter works once you touch the screen so A7 will probably be active when your phone is locked or you're reading something in facebook or whatsapp or a website and you will feel the beast perfomance of A15 once you touch the screen.
This may sound dumb and not so energy efficient but if it will work this way I'm sure it'll save lot of juice :)
Then again I may be wrong! And it won't work this way :)

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2013Having A7 cores work with A15 cores will only slow the syst... moreDude real game is how ur octa i.e, 2 sets of quad understands ur task load intelligently and efficiently and response as quick as possible during the entire operation while the load is being continuously shifted between the two set of quads.

Any company can come up with octa chips based processors with big.little architecture but the game is how well your 2 quads responds to each other. So, u can't just say its a waste that quad A7 being a slow processor defines your real power.

AnonD-71308, 26 Jan 2013And the lame more core war strikes again. Dude, manage more... moreEmm, the ARM A-15 core is, clock for clock as fast as the Atom core, so a dual core A-15 ARM processor is the same speed as an Atom D525 dual core... this means that the 4 core processor we're talking about here is TWICE as powerful as the dual core Atom processor you're talking about...

A novel idea but that extra core only gets used for...sleeping? The A7 quad is used for actual tasks instead and isn't a waste at all, it means more battery life all around. Something tegra's +1 just can't handle.

The idea is to have the same amount of big/little core. The end game is a SoC that can run both the more powerful SoC and the less powerful ones at the same time.

E.G. Your gaming and you use 2 A15's for that, and all the other background tasks run A7's saving you battery life. If you just had 4 A15's then you would be running all your background tasks on that too.

I agree with one of the comments below. This chipset is just quadcore and not really an 8 core cpu. 4 low powered cores is a waste. They copied Nvidia's Tegra 4plus1 design but used 4 low powered cores for battery saving to avoid law suit.
