HTC One might get delayed due to components shortage

This is evident in Singapore, where the One was supposed to come out yesterday. There's suddenly a complete silence about it and it seems as though none of the carriers in Singapore have any more information on its release. I guessed the launch in Singapore yesterday was aborted as well.

Do you guys think HTC would be stupid enough to publicly announce their shortcomings? This is marketing. What they get with this topic are
1. More people would notice the name "HTC One". Good or bad news is still news! And it's the best way to popularity.
2. People would say "Look! There's an HTC One available in the store! I heard they only released small units as of now so if I would buy this I would have a unique and semi rare handset."
3. Uh oh.... HTC One is having supply shortage! I better make my preorder now before it will run out of stock!
Now I guess people who are aiming for the HTC One alrady made preorders. Because they might be thinking they would have higher chances of getting the device if they make preorders than those who will purchase it in the release date.

Shocking really. How can HTC show off a phone and then delay the release because they can't get enough components to make it. They are playing right into Samsungs hands with the Samsung S4 soon to be announced and released. I see this as a major balls up by HTC. Why use components that you have trouble getting enough off to manufacture it.

I don't know about the rest of the world. But here in the UK, there is a lot of talk about this phone and after having seen it, you can see why.

Anonymous, 09 Mar 2013htc is more like an hyundai...Ur mistaking the point...my point is, people buy other phones such as Apple and Samsung more but that does not neccesarry mean HTC is a poor make. If u look at break throughs and new ideas/features etc HTC has came up with a few of those...blackberry z10, iphone5 lookalike/ copycat?! The Taiwanese government can back up the HTC company has been working on the is phone for more than 10yrs...so the design is more original than ever. If u look closer with apple and Samsung, thier phones all lookalike with almost same design every year, hence why the HTC One is the only one standing out of the crowd.

regs, 09 Mar 2013i might agree about lack of microsd support, yet it's mainl... morethat is totally incorrect about storage being only for geeks, example, my manager at my work has just upgraded from a "dumbphone" to a smart phone, and the one first thing she asked was about storage and being able to put things onto it of, of course with some explaining we told her that in her situation she would probably not need more storage as she did not intend to use it in such a way, however yes there are options, however she now has a 64gb micro sd, and a 32gb galaxy s3 and has no idea about tech but her phone is now pretty full and has to be taught how to remove, i know plenty of people who are not tech savvy who have all the latest gadgets, i would think sticking a camera with a 4UP camera on the back would be more for geeks, i bet 75% of people will have no clue what an ultrapixel is, and would look at the number 4 and say f**k that i want a sony or samsung or apple even, without realising the 4 is actually 12

AnonD-119909, 09 Mar 2013It's all down to marketing techniques...if HTC made more co... moreDisagree with you on this one...a good product needs the right kind of marketing and availability...for example, i am a big fan of Asus products...but they are barely available in most markets even after months and when they are, they sell at a 50-60% premium...not to mention I do feel that their quality control is a tad dodgy... similarly, imagine that you write a really good book...its not available anywhere except in the US...how do you suppose its going to become a hit elsewhere? the 'being cool and chic' factor kicks in once you have access to the product...HTC makes good phones no doubt but their visibility isn't half as good as Apple or Samsung...

It's all down to marketing techniques...if HTC made more commercials and adverts as with Apple and Samsung then I'm sure people wouldn't diss HTC so much. It's a fact that people only perceive things with their eyes and intake of information around them such as commercials and adverts so they think Apple and Samsung are better phones but as HTC does it... It's in the brand name "Quietly Brilliant" so yes HTC may be the underdog in the phone industry but think of it this way...imagine Apple, Samsung and HTC are car makes, they would be BMW, Audi and Ferrari...BMW and Audi makes wonderful adverts for their cars but does that mean Ferrari cars are any less special when they don't publish their cars as much?! The answer is no! People like to follow trends...a few years ago everyone had to have an iPhone because it was a trend

This is one of the best marketing strategy.
If this was real the preorder will be cancelled.
All sites still offering the device with 599£ with out contrast so dont believe this.
Gooo htc you are the best.
Plastic company will lose this time.
