I let the number of comments on this article speak for itself about how popular SP is, or will be. Really, at this price point people tend to either save more, or cash out some additional to get a flagship.

AnonD-80914, 05 Apr 2013Right on the money, either this one,or the unseated Xperia T... moreZ is the most sucessfull Xperia ever. Price does not matter, also S sold more than P, coz midrangers like these never sell in big numbers. U also sold more than P. Look at daily interest, SP is not very high, compared to L. I am sure L will be a much bigger success than SP.

SP can still sell in respectable numbers, but safe to say it will be small sales compared to Z.

Its like some people dont understand what a great phone the Z actually is.

AnonD-122633, 05 Apr 2013This is better! You have to try to use onscreen buttons first, you will love it. I was not sure i would like the multitasking button instead of the menu button but now the multitasking button is like my bestfriend. Having a menu button always available is stupid, with onscreen you get it only when you need it, then you know there is a menu, instead of sitting there like a ret@rd tapping on the menu button when there is no available menu.

And "press and hold home" instead of multitasking button?? Thats really too awkward and always was a bad solution, all manufacturers should stop using that system, its not efficient.

Erick, 04 Apr 2013I agree with the view by Gsmarena that this device will pro... moreReally, you find this one competitive with Z?? Then suggest you think about it once more, and then let us know what on earth is so attractive with this thick low res midranger.

The specs are good but nowhere near the Z, and the SP has one serious limitation, and thats the RAM, 1GB simply will not do for multitasking performance. The Z isnt too RAM hungry, mostly because i dont have much installed on it, but the available RAM is still less than 1GB. On Note2 i kept seeing RAM usage at around 1.3GB, due to Samsung bloatware ofcourse, and thats what will happen to Z also when you install lots of services.

I dont even know why i write this, the Z is so obviously worth the higher price, plus upper midrange is not a big market compared to the high end market. The Z will outsell SP by factors, its by far the best phone out there, and SP is not gonna be best at anything.

I agree with the view by Gsmarena that this device will probably be highly underestimated and may well turn out to sell in far greater quantities that the Xperia Z flagship. This may not be so surprising gigen that the SP has around 70%+ of the features of the Z at nearly 40% less of the price of the flagship. The same thing occurred with Nokia's Lumia 800 and 710. The 710 shared so much with the 800 that people decided to opt for the less costly option on many occasions. And while we are discussing Sony I would expect the Xperia L to sell very well in what is a very competitive part of the Android market.

i don't get it with those on screen buttons. sony wants you to have smaller screen for use? this is 4.7 with 0.3' cut off so you actually don't have 4.7' + they still use obsolete washed out tft with bad contrast :/

Not a Sony basher by nature, by the way; love their designs more than all other manufacturers'. I just hate that they won't explore other display technologies.

the notification bar and on-screen buttons are NOT really black. These were meant to be "silver-esque". Check the picture where you can see the "blackness" inside the Walkman App. you can see the shades of black their.

The colors and contrast of a picture taken by a camera can vary for different conditions , you cant compare the screen contrast until you get the phone in your hand (in real world :D ) . There are several pictures of same device and in each one you may find different contrast but thats not the real world case .
