Almost all mobile phone sell in Japan are waterproof. With removable battery and non fingerprint magnet backcover, this is way better than Z/ZL.

JDI have new screen technology like
IPS LCD with RGBW (same thechnology like Xperia P White magic) it have high contrast ratio of 2000:1, about 178 degrees viewing angle,with low power consumption that is approximately 50% less.
JDI also have OLEDS Technology
The OLEDs panel uses the same red, green, blue, and white sub pixels
The panel's maximum screen luminance with an all-white signal is 400-500cd/m2.
It has a contrast ratio higher than 10,000:1
and about 90% color gamut on NTSC standards. But Japan Display aims to increase the color gamut to 100% before the volume production.
if you compare it with samsung super amoled (Galaxy S4)
Brightness:
Samsung super amoled 287 cd/m2 vs JDI OLEDs 400-500cd/m2
Colour Gamut:
Samsung super amoled 132% Standard Mode 122% Movie Mode vs JDI OLEDs 90% (Note that Too Large a Color Gamut is visually worse than Too Small and 100% mean accurate colour)
SONY will have many great diplay option by the end of this year or by 2014

looks even smaller than xperia zl from the pictures though
