Why pay for 'premium' phone when you only get 'mid-range' phone???

This phone is the smartest smartphone out now.
As far as the "specs". It has a retina display like ppi.
This is in FACT an 8 CORE PHONE.
The X8 System Makes Moto X Possible
The Touchless Control, Active Display and gesture-based actions are governed by a proprietary Motorola/Google system called X8. Unlike the Android system that runs the rest of the Moto X, Google and Motorola are not planning on making X8 open source. This is their magic, and they're holding on to it.
The X8 Mobile Computing System is really a hardware feature. It is running eight computing cores, starting with a Qualcomm dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip. Four other cores do nothing but running the graphical processing units (GPUs). A dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait CPU runs most of the phone's other functions.
Two cores are focused only on the natural language processor used for Touchless Control and the “contextual computing engine” that knows when you are holding the device and how you interact with it.
This is a smart use of hardware by Google and Motorola. The Moto X is not just about speeds and feeds (though it has plenty of power for the casual gearhead); it's optimized towards performance and feature functionality.

soon, Moto will follow the likes of Alcatel and Nokia. They aren't even trying to get back their loyal customers in Asia and Europe. I thought i'm gonna get this Moto X in ASIA. All my excitement was gone and probably i'll save my money for a new Sony or HTC phone.

Reasons are pretty clear. Prior to their sell to Google Moto has shut down international network and accumulated all force exclusively on US market.

Any one who has studied Motorola's history when it comes to OS updates and software fixes will know they are regularly cancelled and European updates are almost always the first to be cancelled.
Mid-range specs at a premium price and the moniker of "All-American Phone" (when everybody knows Taiwan makes all the best phones) are simply not going to the sell to savvy Europeans.

I don't see anyone calling Motorola nationalist, afraid you introduced the word! People are complaining about price point and the fact that they ignore Europe and that goes for every recent Moto top end phone released in the last couple of years apart from the Razr. Could not care less if Moto wanted to be nationalistic as I am not a fan and I am always likely to buy top end rather mid range phones. My interest in upcoming phones is with LG G2, will need to think that one through, and the Honami. Not much else upcoming that I would consider except for the Nexus 5!

Chances are that a made in Asia version with less customs options will be the version for sale outside of the US......it is the only logical way it could be offered at a lower cost, otherwise this will simply be a non competitive but highly desirable product in the bigger world market.
