Tizen should replace android. honestly google hasn't been the friendliest as of late and tizen is really going to improve sales for samsung in the asian market. To regute an earlier poster, tizen will be on a high end smartphone. we've heard that much from samsung already. It would just be nice to know when.

This is being driven by Intel. Intel wants very badly to get a bigger share of the mobile market with their hardware, they are spending tens of millions on R&D to develop an OS using their chips.
Interesting that Samsung is going along with this since they also have their own Exynos chipset. This will be interesting to watch.
If it never makes it to market it's easy to figure out why.

Tizen is a horrible OS, i test it and the GUI is extremely old. No eco-system. Zero games, zero applications. If samsung try to focus on this, all their android users will change to htc, LG, sony. So, it is a very bad movement for samsung if they try to launch an obsolete OS like tizen. Better keep working on android devices, and flood the market with many new phones.

somebody's missing the tiny detail that Tizen is Android based and it will run all the Android apps. So what makes you think that Tizen will be for low and mid range phones?? I can tell you that Tizen will be for flagmans only. Why? Because this is what will make Samsung's expensive phones DIFFERENT.
But still - Tizen comes with a samsung device = sucks :D

well samsung is the main android seller but you should know that the one that makes the real bucks out of those selling is google so obviosly samsung wants to have a piece of that pie too so it would not be a surprise if samsung in the near future ditches android completely if of course his tizen phones get the attention and support like android at least some of it.

Let suppose android will become a "close" os like wp or ios available only for Motorola devices.
Android is google TM with part developped under GNU PL.
What is Samsung or other company who sell android smartfones without Android Google Trademark. Nothing. Samsung is prudent in developping his own os.
