ah just another os on top of a linux kernel, I Love It.....only this is open source unlike some parts of GOOGLE/ANDROID and the sdk is hopefully open and free.
to me that means porting google apps won't be too hard.

At start of the tizen samsung will use samsung galaxy s5 complete hardware package and at the same time they will use s5 hardware as successor of s4. So in contrast samsung will have one top end hardware running on two different operating system. Reasons
      1. At launch they need really best hardware in the market to compete with rivals os and hardware to get good start which will make tizen popular.
      2. Tizen will be another flagship which if becomes successful in a year they can calculate actual popularity figures at the end of the year. So at launch they dont want any lower hardware than android flagship as well as they dont want loose market share due to changing flagship to another operating system other than successful one.
3.for example when they launched windows 8 operating system they used almost same specs as android flagship siii.
      4. That way in near future they dont have to rely on android and will not loose market shares or customers.

I hope it'd have real multitasking (not faking it like Android or iOS).
And decent keyboard support (all common keyboard shortcuts working - ctrl+z, ctrl+c, etc.)
I also hope that it could start chroot shell natively and chroot apps run using primary X server.

If so, then I'm in for some decent slide out qwerty device with Tizen.

Bad move. Samsung without Android will not do well.

We have a similar device in our office for testing (S III with sharper corners and Tizen). The OS runs pretty smoothly. We got it from Swisscom I think.

Who is mad enough to prefer Tizen over Android raise your hand.... I ain't because i burned myself with stupid Bada and will not repeat the same mistake again. They can have their crappy OS that will (just like Bada) have poor apps selection and zero support with updates coming out once a year mostly ruining things that workeed fine and adding new useless features no one wants. Samsung, just do the harwdare magic and let Google do their software part...
