Not even a good solution. The big ass hump isn't gonna go very far. We need a reasonably large sensor that can fit in to a 7~9mm thick body. That's a hard limit.

This is all because of Nokia. Every company desperately wants their flagship phones to beat the image quality of Nokia Lumia 1020. ISOCELL is just a gimmick. If you look at both this pictures on a LCD side by side, the BSI one appears to have better dynamic range and accurate color without much distortion while the ISOCELL one appears to have bad exposure and too much post processed image that colors are almost inaccurate and dynamic range ain't very bad. Not an innovation.

Samsung shrinks the sensor and shrinks the pixels while using a tech allowing them to be as efficient or better DESPITE smaller size.

Nothing comes close to the Htc One 2 micron pixel Size

AnonD-59299, 24 Sep 2013Technology useless ! The image sensor can be FSI, BSI o... moreDon't forget however, the claim is that ISOCELL pixels have a better performance with smaller pixels.
And ISOCELL pixel have less noise and distortion that a BSI pixel from the same size.

                                Technology useless !

The image sensor can be FSI, BSI or ISOCELL ... If he did not have a good physical size (at least 1/2.3 ") and have a good amount of microns per pixel integrated (at least 1.75 microns), it will not provide outstanding image quality compared to the others !

For these and other that by the end of 2014 (estimated date when we will see the announcement of his lawful successor) in the field of digital photography, 808 PurevView continue to be the biggest and the best solution in the mobile world !

If Samsung, Sony, Apple and others want to overcome Nokia, specifically the 808, should think of a sensor at least 1" and at least 5 microns per pixel integrated !

hmm interesting concept. So this ISOCELL has smaller pixel size 1.12um (smaller than 1.4um) and 1/4inch sensor size (smaller than 1/3inch).
Well I hope the result will be as good as the normal sensor and pixel size.
I guess this sensor will be used in thinner smartphone huh...

So samsung consider consumer desire for increased camera resolution and came with totally new technology so called ISOCELL which they are analysing with 8MP chip with some mid-range phone for now. If it rocks Galaxy 5 with this 8MP quality which i see in above picture i'll definately go for it.
