Smart move product wise maybe but dumbass move to call it the F series. In the western world F is the lowest grade you can get, F is the first letter of foul words, and the F series of the upscale Toyota brand hasn't sold well. You're an F. I wouldn't like the sound of that. Just the two cents Samsung.

I'll take a metal phone over a plastic any day. Spoken from Ride snowboarding company.. "Trust in metal, plastic is for toys."

Metal body will make scratches easily. I had a Nokia C7 past 2 years which has metal aluminium back cover. I didn't used any protection cover. Many many scratches which looks very ugly. So if you are planning to keep your expensive smartphone on a protection jacket then don't buy metal or aluminium body phone. As every poeple are saying that...plastic don't feel as premium bla bla bla. So if you use cover you still will not feel your premium feelings...

Jati Royat, 30 Sep 2013Samsung should not doing this.. If they released it, all th... moreI don't necessarily agree with that analysis.
It all comes down to pricing. S-series and Note buyers will only feel affected if the new F-series is within the same price segment.
It does however shift the top range, making the company more mature and open to newer (more premium) markets.

It looks dreadful. What did they brush that aluminium with? A Brillo pad? What about precision and finesse? I love Samsung phones and own an S3 myself, but they really struggle with the aesthetic. Nokia, HTC, Apple (and not to mention the gorgeous Oppo N1) are all much more lovely to look at and caress.

I think it's smarter to keep the S and Note. They know that those models sell good, and if this one will be more expensive there's no guarantee it will be able to sell the same volumes.

Samsung should not doing this.. If they released it, all the peoples who buying latest s series and note series would be dissapointed because their expensive smartphone would be not premium and exclusive anymore..
They should improve the quality of they flagship series which is s series and note series, not releasing a new series like this.. haha that's what i think..
guess i prefer into sony that stand for its premium quality and doesn't releasing too many flagship line..

Anonymous, 27 Sep 2013Whatever Samsung phones i had broke in just a year. Dropped... moreRight. That's why there are millions of Samsung phones well over a year old kicking strong. Because you drop your phones means that they have no durability.
Ugly? Have you looked in a mirror?
Bravo for superior logic.

Whatever Samsung phones i had broke in just a year. Dropped and dead. Too costly to repair. These samsung phones are way too ugly and not durable. I have to use my Nokia 2310 always because every Samsung phones fails after a year. Samsung phones are worst ever in terms of durability. I would think twice before buying a Samsung phone again.

AnonD-97279, 26 Sep 2013Good Try troll. Do u ever have use any of sammy flagship m... moreI won't judge Samsung's performance. They have a standard. But please please please change your designs. it's so boring and ugly. Please don't wrap the F-Serious in a metal and call it another phone please. Let's be honest here. Note 3 is basically an S4 with bigger screen and a stylus. Don't give me all those internal specs and tell me the difference at the end of the day. it's the same darn thing. Also, the note 3 is already priced ridiculously . Can you imagine it being wrapped in a metalic shell? they will charge double!

It is encouraging that Samsung will provide devices with a high build quality. Their Wave line up from several years ago was build well and their Galaxy offerings, whilst excellent in many ways, were criticised for their plastic feel not in keeping with the premium price. Interestingly, the forthcoming S5 in 2014 will likely sport a metal frame. This could likely be as a response to the HTC One.
