I just want to say that I went for the Samsung Galaxy S5 with MediatekMT6592 thinking it would blow me away after owning an S4 with ONLY Quad core technology. Sadly it's nowhere near as good as the S4 at anything I ask it to do. FACT. Even out of the box with no added garbage it was slow and jittery. Never again, keep your 8 cores.

Why they create octa-core soc (not big.LITTLE)? AMD have stop creating octa-core processor for desktop and improve their single core performance. They do that because not all software fully use 8 core on desktop pc and intel can beat those easily with just quad core. So 8 eight core on android is non sense without good single core performance.

Sure snapdragon will win by 20%, but you will pay quadruple as much for that 20%, so in terms of value snapdragon, well, sucks basically. In the same price bracket you only get dual core snapdragons. Unfair comparison.

They are concentrating on perfect performance with price affordability. There comes a day, all the brands, including china phone makers use mediatek chipsets bcoz of their performance and affordability. Mark my words!!

Why MediaTek MT6592 does not appear on most renowned brands such as Nokia, Motorola, HTC, Sony, LG ..... where desire and interest will be added still more in Europe and Balkans for smartphones contain the MeediaTek MT6592 processor, success will be more more than you expected, that in the Balkans as far as know, I've met anyone yet who has the phone with MediaTek processor, not that it is not good, but keep the smartphone more from brands that I mentioned above, herefore I suggested that you will be interacting with these brands Nokia, Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG... !!!

I do not see the point in 8 cortex a7s. The A7 in a multi core setup is meant to be part of a big/LITTLE setup along with the same number of cortex A12 or A15. I do think the move to Mali is a step in the right direction.

why I added LED flash for the front camera, the reason is that in most cases many people have a need for video call communication, we are located in places where the need to respect privacy, without lights and quietly, so the laptops and tablets direct camera they should use for communication and need LED flash, believe they liked the idea.... ;)))

Octa core will be great with multi windows feature that is comming out of android soon. Qualcom is sourgraping, mtk core is powerful enough to run android tasks and do it efficiently through its multi cores. Its SoC integrated gpu is powerful as well. Good job mediatek for bringing the price down!

The cores are low-end Cortex A7-cores.

Which means single-thread performance is crap.

So this chip makes absolutely NO SENSE at all. Single-thread performance is much more important than the amount of cores for real world performance in real world applications.

Dual-core A15 or dual-core Krait would usually give better real world performance

GPS is not MediaTeck problem. It is the manufacturers using low quality gps reciver (in order to cut cost). I have a Huawei G700 and GPS work just fine.

well the S4 is not true ocotcore anyway, 1.6ghz + 1.2ghz. so it runs higher the core or the lower core depending on application. not all at once.

Mediatek is a true 8 core, as it has 8 symetrical cores. in english 8 cores. again only running each core it needs not all at the same time. since no application will actually need this. its just marketing. dual/quad/octocore. just numbers.
