HTC didn't update quickly in the past, but they have got Kit Kat out to HTC One Google edition and developer edition already, beating Samsung by more than one month, possibly two if Samsung update is end of January 2014

In fact the S1 can run Jelly bean and probably even Kitkat very well. Even on quote on quote bloated UI.

I bought a new galaxy S when it was launched. I was pretty much happy with the performance. The firmware was originally 2.3 I guess. When I did a firmware update to 2.6, the phone got slow down. Recently I got a Note 3 with Jelly Bean. I am happy with performance. I am scared to update to KitKat as it may slow down. The conclusion is try to live and be happy with the stock firmware which comes with your phone. Be careful while updating...! It may slow down...

Only phones which are selling great are Galaxy and iPhone.

                  Deal with it.

Make lists and make specs etc. but it doesn't change facts.

How many units Nexus 5 sold or Nexus 7 again ? haha

PEOPLE don't care about having latest OS , if that's the case people won't be buying Galaxy , they would be buying Nexus but unfortunately Nexus devices won't even sell 1/10th of what Samsung sells every year from flagships.

That tells that you are in the minority of who actually wants latest OS as soon as it comes out.

                  More like beta tester.

Last year I remember 4.2 having december calendar missing.

Well i dont care about this. Android fragmentation is difficult to overcome if everybody stock with the stock software.

Each new device comes with different features. And that features requires not only software but hardware capable and its hard to do a work around for older devices's feature to be implemented on newer android version. Rushed by time, they only managed to cover only a few devices while older devices dont get any.

The only way to get a new software update to any of the devices is root and flash a custom ROM. I know only very few people among android user understand this but eventually they will seek help from them and finally understand too. But how about a very old devices which none of the developers support? Well that's going to stuck forever.

That's the bad thing about Android. If you want software update, go for Nexus device since it's easy (because it's the Android itself. No features added other than enhanced stock Android features) or iPhone since iPhone or iPad is the only devices that use iOS.

Most don't even know that there is a kitkat update for the phones right now :)

They just know that kitkat is there but they forget it in 2-3 days after reading news.
