im looking forward to the GS5 with the 2k res i may see no difference from the GS3 1080p res but im sure it will look a little better as for battery life i couldnt really care i don't worry about it and im useing my GS3 constantly all day if the battery gets low i just plug it in and recharge it for a while and continue on .
In my opinion companies are going to continue to make smartphones with more this more that what it comes down to is if YOU don't want it don't buy it the problem with this is i don't see anyone with a Motorola DynaTAC mobile any more which mind you cost around $4000 dollars :p

IGZO screen is a better choice since it is cheaper, thinner, and equally power saving.

Tom, 28 Dec 2013It's very sad they sacrificing battery life just to be the ... moreAll of these 2k displays are using LTPS TFTs, instead of a-Si TFTs, this lowers battery consumption by about 50-60%. The new Li-Po batteries allow for higher capacities and longer battery health too. So rest assured, that the industry is FAR more prepared for a 2k 2014 than it was for a 1080p 2013.
I'd expect battery life to be around the 8-10 Hours mark for video playback/browsing, and calls to set all time high scores with these new devices.

Better battery technology is already there,but... If they put this into a cell phones, then this will be also available for other industry, like cars and other things. And then some lobbies will start losing money.

It's very sad they sacrificing battery life just to be the first company with such a high res device. Marketing gimmick because there's no use for it.

you have any ideia how thick a bettery so small in size should be to achieve the 4000 mAh... you'd have a smartphone that is as thick as an oldschool Nokia 5110 or something like that...
Sorry, but for me that doesn't make any sense...
I agree with you on the matter of big batteries, but the equipment thickness should be mantained in check... i think the limit (and i'm already pushing it to far) should be 15~18mm MAX... i'm no battery engineer, but i believe it should be impossible by now to build a battery with that capacity, thickness and size...
