If i'm not mistaken i've seen a documentary about this technology quite long time ago, so why didn't we see it till now, especially in smartphone industry?
Well, maybe they have difficulties applying it on glass :v

blahblahblah glass glass and glass again. I am so sick of it. Why do they even use glass on phones when there is plastic. Plastic doesn't shatter, so why get complicated with glass.

They have the technology to do what ever they want years now but they don't want to use there technology to make bulletproof screens - monitors - glasses and others.
They could make some bulletproof visors for motorbike helmets and they doesn't do it.
Every 3-6 months I change visor on my helmet cause of the stones who crash and scratch my visor and I cant see the road from lot of scratches.

Gorilla Glass 3 is just as tough as Gorilla Glass 2. The only difference is that 3 is thinner than 2. That's what Corning said about Gorilla Glass 3 when they announced it.

Dont know anyone impressed by gorrilla glass just breaks and scratches same as other glass...Can they not use perspex all my old Nokias were brilliant in durability.

Someone should make Steel Glass not Gorilla Glass.
Gorilla Glass is just a glass that trying so hard to have metal properties.
It should be the other way around.
Steel Glass is basically a metal that can display picture on its surface.

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2014Gorilla glass is scratch proof, not shatter proof, sapphire... moreNeither is sapphire... Scratch resistent yes, shatter resistant, no. As far as i know, Gorilal Glass is rather flexible and thus a lot less prone to shattering. Sapphire is not.

Most high end phones still uses Gorilla glass 2 because it's tougher than 3.

gorilla 3 is weak! i broke my nexus 5 screen in pocket , screen side on leg, just sit down and it broke, it was in front pocket
