My first smart phone was htc. It was awesome. They never compromised on build quilty and it really felt good in hands and userfriendly. I am looking forward to buy htc one and looking for price drop after the m8 release.

I am in the wireless retail business and can say the HTC One was one of the best phones to hit the market in awhile. The problem was their marketing and unless they correct that aspect of their business the results maybe the same for the M8. The public opinion can be bought through a great marketing campaign backed by a great product. For the life of me I cannot understand why this simple marketing practice of thought is hard for HTC to comprehend.
A real world example to how bad HTC is falling it easy to see. Just walk into any retailer or carrier location like Verzion, ATT, Sprint, T Mobile, or even national retailers like Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart. Ask the rep what is one of the best smart phone on the market ( not the best selling) and most will tell you the HTC One. I have reps tell me that when they try and explain how good the HTC One is they usually get comments like " if this is such a great phone why have I not heard of it?" After a while they just focus on making the easy sale with a Apple or Samsung phone. We call this clerking opposed to selling in the retail world.
Even with the new M8 coming out national retailers are focus on the Samsung GS5. Target and Wal-Mart have started to accept pre order on the GS5 already along with the carriers. This is a direct result of HTC not partnering with their retailers to keep the M8 in the front of the consumer's mind. It is not until a sales rep can mention their device to a consumer and get the response of " hey, I heard of that phone can you tell me more about it?" will HTC gain any momentum or traction.
I hope they get their act together and not only keep marking great phone that the tech world go crazy over but, one the average consumer does as well. For the record I will be getting the new M8 on release just as I did with the M7.

I doubt the fat and underwhelming new One will be that successful. For example, its Longer than Xperia Z1 which is already disgustingly large for a 5 incher, and its a lot thicker than Z2 which has a 23% bigger battery (and 50% more RAM). Also it seems the new One is missing out on 4k video recording, not very important but lots of people think its better to have than to not.
The new One could sell well in USA though, since Sony isnt in with the biggest carriers over there and Americans seem to be allergic to buying phones off contract.

I wouldn't be surprised if BNP Paribas own shares or have loans to HTC and they are just trying to talk up the value of the company to protect themselves.

Maybe they went from 1million to 2million profit for 50% increase?
- 2014-03-20 04:47
Like the last One, it can have all the great specs in the world but Sense it too dark and blinkfeed is annoying if you don't bother with social media.
