I'm posting this from my m8.
It's 9pm, unplugged at 6am, screen has been on max brightness all day, listened to music about 5 hours, been playing with it all day of course since this is my first 24 hours with it, battery is currently at 45%. Don't know what htc did but this battery is surprising me. Was expecting to have to charge today after 2 years on droid maxxes. Speed demon of course but what would you expect with an 801? Stopped noticing the black bars about ten minutes after using it but there's no way I'd trade a gs5 for this thing's excellent body. Haven't touched htc in years but I'm impressed. Have fun waiting for your gs5 or z2.

HTC One M8 did not stay too long before Sony Xperia Z2 took its king position in Basemark OS II. http://results.rightware.com/

htc battery timing is not so good so why they do not enhance it.

It has the same chipset as other 801 smartphones. It's clocked lower than 805. It's surely cheating like all previous HTC phones. Others don't score as high because they're no longer cheating.

Same old sub-par 4UP camera coupled with a 2UP secondary camera followed by a front facing 5MP camera, it will be interesting whether the front camera does better shots than the rear. I know MP's mean little, however, Im still hoping the rear camera is 12UP at least or else Im out this time, I have M7 with 4UP camera already, its ok I guess but doesnt even compare to my S4 or Z1. Also the design is less appealing than the original (especially the rounded edges and wasted black bar with HTC logo) imo, I hope all the recent leaks are fake or an older test unit.

Nah, Z2 is equipped with Snapdragon 801, yet its clockspeed is 2.3ghz. Right now there are 2 or possibly more smartphones which are equipped with 801 and clocked at 2.3ghz and 2.5ghz. So it's highly likely that it's 801.

Prefer to rely on real life use and how well the software is optimised although benchmarks are of some interest, not much but some interest. Interesting to note the Z2's numbers are not included although sorting by just android devices, the Z1 is 4th which suggests the Z2 will perform much better. As I say, benchmarks aren't worth jack unless it translates into real time/life use.
