Anonymous, 13 Aug 2014If these technologies and manufacturing proceesse work, it ... moreI definitely see it as having a niche in certain areas, But phones,...that's a hard sell as of right now I think. Yes the durability is a BIG plus, but look at the LG G Flex and Samsung Round, it was old news quick and no one really cared.

If these technologies and manufacturing proceesse work, it wont only change the way we use our phones, but have an impact on the whole techonology market. Forget phones that wont break when they bend or TV's that give a slighly better picture. This will waking up in the morning and using your window to view emails or your breakfast table to watch films on and intereact with.

Samsung and LG are big companies and they've spent many dollars to hire top notch engineers that do some research on how to manufacture the flexible displays for years.
so, what make you think they haven't tried those methods before?

I think OLED displays are gorgeous, but when it comes to the whole curved display thing, in particular on phones. I don't see where its use is practical. I see it as more of a gimmick, than something that can actually enhance the mobile experience. I saw the prototype design for the Samsung Note Edge, with the volume rocker embedded in the edge of the OLED display, but how do you implement something like that where the user isn't always accidentally adjusting the volume when they hold the device? I'm they'll discover some way to make it work though.

atlast i can see the real innovation.
