YUKI93, 15 Nov 2020It is hard to believe that this is THE FIRST EVER smartphon... moreThis is definitely the first ever phone with a battery over 5000mAh. But the phone that started the 5000mAh trend should be either the Energizer P550S or the Gigaset GS270 Plus

It is hard to believe that this is THE FIRST EVER smartphone to start the 5,000mAh battery capacity trend.

this is the best smartphone, reliable, super battery ... but time is running out

I bought it from Estonia. Menu languages are English, Romanian, Russian and Ukranian.
But somehow BIOS is in Chinese. It opens on random moments. I can even move on its menus.

It might be somewhat silly to review a phone, which is now practically impossible to get, because of its release date and place (Asia only), but I have to, because it was one of the best smart phones I've ever used. Until now.

Three things on this phone were absolutely stunning. Battery, GSM and wireless module. Where others were without signal, my W6610 was still roaming around able to pick up the calls. And where other were looking for a charger, I was still running around deploying portals in Ingress. :)

I mean those are the most important features when it comes down to phone devices. At least for me. No matter what the phone can do, it always relies on the battery power and the signal reception. I'm not so keen to charge my phone every damn day, or to run around hoping to "catch" the signal.

I've bought it in October 2014 and recently (summer 2016) some flaws are coming up. First flaw was present since its beginning. For some reason my W6610 has only 1GB of internal memory, not 3GB, as noted here. For some time it was no issue, but as the new apps kept coming, the 1GB limit has been hit and that was it. You can move some apps to the external card, but not all. A flaw, but you can still live with it.

The second one is more severe. For some unknown reason the phone started lagging. Apps are no longer responding the way they did in the past and even the power button sometimes fails to bring it up or to put it to sleep. This change of the response time came all of a sudden. I didn't do anything specific. It just got slower.

All in all, for almost 2 years it served flawlessly. Once I have a new phone, I'll do a backup of my W6610, do the master reset and see if the performance will be resolved. If not, then the HW is probably dying.

Philips repair records show the W6610 has an inherent error.

Occasionally the phone will die when a picture is taken & needs components replaced.

I'm on my fourth repair & my warranty expires at Christmas.

So it lasts until it first fails out of warrant (about 2.5 months between fails for me, with 2 weeks to a month to repair), & is useless if you are not where a warranty can be used.

The phone also has its 4GB storage split so 2GB can only be used for media. So in reality it has 2GB storage for apps.
