Sony Ericsson Elm preview: First look

30 December 2009
The Sony Ericsson may be green at heart but it sure looks like a red hot package complete with imaging, connectivity and novel design. Makers are keen to ride the green wave and phones are rushing to catch up. It seemed Sony Ericsson's GreenHeart had a slow start...

kok sin, 11 Sep 2010this phone good or not? It's a very good phone if you like candybar style phones, poor WIFI connectivity, but I don't use it so I don't care. GPS works well but you must hire and expensive service WISEPILOT, I use google maps and I see exactly where i am. Photos good enough, but the cibershot takes better pics. Excelent sound when you use it as a walkman or listen to the radio. And the most important, their performance at a low price.

Gaurav, 03 May 2010Nice phone but I don't think battey has 10hrs talktime as c... moreDo you talk 10 hours per day? you need 10 hours of talk per day? you need to change your lifesryle, not your cellphone. Think about. I have an Elm and i'm very please with it, I don't like some things as all related with social network, how to access to music player, and play music, my old W580 has a better interface.

Nice phone but I don't think battey has 10hrs talktime as claimed. I think a full charge & 3hrs continue use will completly drain it out.

pinkllama, 29 Dec 2009no 3.5mm jack = yawn & byebyei have to say many sony ericsson phones do not come with a 3.5mm jack and reasons are for profit making. i peronally think this is a great idea as you can choose for bluetooth (wireless) and a sony adptor.

i have to say i have had this phone for about 10 hrs now im very impressed with it's specs. there is very good use in this fone. many may say that the keypad and candybar style is a bit out of date but that's because you just don't get it. the keypad gives a more lovingly retro look about it and it lowers power consumion and reducing CO2. the sound quilty from music is very well produced and feels like star quilty of audio fr5om products such as bang and olsen.

however, i have to point out the gps is a bit poor and disappointing does not come with licensed navigation software to test but what can you expect from a low end cheap bargin.

overall, in my view this is competiton to some of the high end music and business phones out there but there is no way it can beat companies such as business specific HTC. but it could very much beat Nokia so this phone has to be a 9/10 due to gps

I love the feature set of this phone and the fact it's a standard candy bar design, but the lack of a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack leaves me shaking my head. If the phone is to be marketed as eco-friendly, then why force people to buy and use proprietary headphones and car adapters? One would think that eco-friendly would mean help save the environment by using this one device made from recycled materials for all of your needs. Less products manufactured and plugged in means less impact on the environment. This one unfortunately says you'll need to keep your dedicated msuic player handy. Poor form, Sony.

Other than that one (major) gripe, it's everything I'd want in a phone and definitely a great buy. Lowest price I've seen in the US so far is ~$260. Hard to beat.

This phone is great, as it is an all-round phone, like the Sony Ericsson K750i I've used for 5 years.

Sony Ericsson would have beaten the other manufacturers if they dumped the Fast Port. But Fast Port definitely has its own advantage: most Nokia phones don't offer USB charging, but Fast Port does.

Looks to be the next descendant in the T series; the styling is so reminiscent of the T700 to me. Glad Sony's kept the chrome bling to a minimum. I may finally have another Ericsson to consider.

I think this phone will be a hit. Im very excited for it. Ive compared it to many phones and it has won everytime. If u havent done the research dont hate on this phone, u dont know what your talking about. Voted #1 by me. Strong supporter, i know it will be an excellent phone.

The pictures don't do this phone justice. The phone looks greats, feels great and will hopefully be a winner for Sony Ericsson in 2010.

compare to naite, this is more featured phone. SE put wifi, gps and accelerometer. But its become a bad habit, SE remove another feature. The video call camera! what a DISAPOINTING :(
