Nokia N9 hands-on: First look

22 June 2011
Today's smartphone scene is one of fierce competition and breakneck growth. Rarely though do announcements get any bigger than this. The Nokia N9 seemed forever stuck in rumorland, but never lost its grip on users' minds. The handset is rightfully enjoying as warm a reception...

Wow, Just picked up the Nokia N9. Handed over my iPhone4. and NO REGRETS! This little phone is incredible. So fast, so sharp, so clear..... I Love it (I'm an Apple junkie too).

Nokia, I hope you are listening.... You are on a good thing here. More of it. You can certainly get back on top...or very close to it, just with this. I'm impressed !!!!

nokia is far behind in touch phones. It has lost the competition. Only Samsung is improving so fast and after sam, LG is doing somewhat

Anyone knows when this will come out in Asia (Philippines)? I was in Singapore the other day and the clerk at the Nokia Center there said the PREORDER starts next month.

But it's not only a question of OS abilities, it's also about services and apps. The Nokia/Windows alliance will be more competitive than OVI on its own. Nothing wrong with Symbian^3 though, I really hope S40 will be ditched instead...

N9 has an FM transmitter. Google or wiki people before making these kind of claims ;) There doesn't seem to be any software to use it out-of-box but 3rd party soutions exist or will exist.

This definitely seems like a unique device hardware- and software-wise. The built seems robust but I'm really more blown away by the OS! It seems very different and miles ahead of my current Androidy. I hope it is as good as it seems when I get to try it.

From a smallish indie software developers point of view, Meego's smaller platform is more intriguing than other market places where it's hard to get noticed among the endless piles of other software.

Definitely could have been my choice if it had a FM Radio,FM transmitter and a Zenon flash for night shooting while keeping the flash light to use for video recording

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2011Unfortunatly only Symbian can record phone calls. That's on... moreMy old Blackberry could record phone calls. That's not a Symbian unique thing. Hell my super old Samsung D900 could record phone calls.
