Omg this phone is amazing! I had a galaxy s2 then wanted to get a new one but didn't know which one since all the other ones so much more expensive and this one least expensive so I was worried it wouldn't be as great since it was cheaper but I'm so glad i bought this one!! I'm impressed with all the clarity of colors and pictures come out amazing. Overall very very happy with my purchase! :)

AnonD-43622, 12 Mar 2012I'm glad it's only the US version that doesn't have radio. ... moreThe Canadian version (i717R) doesn't have an FM Radio either but I can't complain as the device is still really so good after one year. Haven't had trouble with fitting my Note in to ANY pants pocket; and no pocket issues different from other phones while sitting down as it is so thin with a smooth/rounded metal bezel and buttons that are almost flush. You would think it takes awhile to get used to the size, not so, you'll wonder how come the screen isn't larger in a few months. (Especially when watching movies!) A laptop I bought three months prior is no longer getting use and *surprise* now I don't need to invest in a tablet either. One screen to rule them all? That gigantic 2500 mAh battery is a good thing too 'cause a huge 5.3-inch "half-tab" screen is a herculean power drain, FYI you'll get mediocre battery life when reading eBooks or keeping the screen on constantly just like other phones. It's just that you'll want to use this truly portable display so much more than previous devices that really you couldn't couldn't fit in a battery that lasts long enough. Performance is snappy and as soon as you activate it there's a suggestion to auto-upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich "over-the-air" and lately Jelly Bean is available via Samsung Kies without diminishing performance or battery life. The only OS upgrade feature my i717R didn't get was the split-screen multi-view which would have really taken advantage of screen real estate while you're multitasking. I can do almost anything on this device though, as it is really just a mobile computer even though I've only ever installed free apps. Oh, I got lucky with timing too as I didn't pay a cent up front for a $720 phone by choosing a the 3-year contract. I refuse to use Google for private data so the built-in Microsoft Exchange Server software syncs my calendar/contacts/tasks/email folders and subfolders perfectly. If you don't have long enough fingers there's a setting to move the keyboard/numberpad buttons to either side of the screen for one-handed operation. Often brought a 12 MP "point-and-shoot" camera along to events or trips and have since stopped because I keep getting so many compliments on the dazzling colour and depth from the smartphone pics. I could only shoot 720p video previously and now have 1080p, just find that out the other day! It does everything a guy could ask except toast bread, even when it gets pretty hot to the touch while playing EA's Real Racing 3 outside with screen brightness set to max haha ... but one day a web-connected toaster with airtight loaf storage will come along with an app for that.

ATTN: When I saw the Galaxy Note 2 there was no regrets; as I don't like any physical buttons blemishing a screen, I felt the non-textured back panel was too slippery, the camera lens bezel is not flush and juts out, couldn't get a comfortable "feel" from the non-cylindrical shape of the new S-pen, and its true 16:9 screen made made picture/video viewing and web browsing seem confined by comparison. Folks, they did it best with the original Note!

I don't know why people say it is "too big". Look what iPhone 5 is doing...getting bigger. Apple can't compete with the Note. I've got the I717, and it fits me perfectly. Rock on, Samsung, rock on!

I have bought this phone, and use it for everything, my computer is gathering dust now. Kindle books and google books are perfect on this screen. Instant download straight to phone like everything on this device, download straight to phone. Banking, paypal, credit card purchases all done on the go and i can see what im doing without squinting. Buy looser shorts to men oops i mean girls who wear tigt shorts. lol

I've made the leap of faith and upgraded my HTC HD7S Windows Phone to the Samsung Galaxy Note i717.

I was first hesitant since I had bad experiences with my ASUS Transformer -- particularly with the version of Android and was concerned about fragmentation.

My experience with the Samsung Galaxy i717 Note has been phenomenal, exciting, awesome, and drool-dropping!!! This phone is sexy, beautiful, sleek, and stylish!! I am in love with this phone!

I totally love the 5.3" S-AMOLED screen! Since I was use to the HTC HD7S 4.3" screen, it wasn't a difficult transition to up the ante a bit. Samsung has built a serious kick-ass hybrid (phone/tab), and with that being said, this is truly THE iPhone killer.

Unfortunately I don't have much time to discuss further in detail my experience with this device since I had only been in possession of it for only two weeks. But the reactions I've gotten so far from my colleagues and friends are: I want one!

Oh! And a friend who has an iPhone said that if Verizon carries it, he's going to get it.

I'm glad it's only the US version that doesn't have radio. That would be SUCH a deal breaker to have a cutting edge phone in every facet but handicapped without Radio. Body-parts-missing is an Apple product.

AnonD-16764, 21 Feb 2012Too big! Better to have gone with higher pixel density smal... moreThey do have that. It's called the Galaxy and the Nexus. This is the "Note" or Geek for massive, high performance phones.
I don't get why people come here to complain about the size. A Jeep fan would not want to badmouth in a Hummer forum right? Stick to your circle of iFriends.

I got one last week from ATT store and took it back next day.

Performance was awful, email on exchange a total joke, the battery terrible.

Good idea just very poorly implemented, I really wanted to like this phone kust seems to make sense but the OS is terrible and very jerky.

I was on iphones for 2 years, went to SGS2 for 3-4 months and now on note for 4-5 months. LOVE IT. I was contemplating getting a tablet but 5.3 inches is great. Its always on my, it isn't heavy after watching videos for a few hours and the screen is GREAT.

                                        Only downsides are.
                                        - in some shorts/pants it is difficult to get out when sitting down.
                                        - battery life when web browsing isn't as good as the iphone (bigger better screen you expect that)
                                        - really hard to use 1 handed but is great with 2 hands. My version has the option for a keyboard which only takes up 3/4 of the width of the screen if 1 handed is a problem.

                                        BEST PHONE EVER!! :-)
