Samsung Rugby Smart review: Tough INC.

08 March 2012
The Samsung Rugby Smart for AT&T is bound to bring a massive dash of toughness to the Korean giant's Android ranks. Compliant with MIL-STD-810f military grade standard, the handset will also enable Samsung to compete in yet another smartphone...

dont let this crap (milatary grade)fool you. I just bought this phone had it 21 days droped it 1 time on a wooden laminate floor from about waist high and the screen shattered, what a joke. I was told sorry about your luck. So good luck to the rest of you.

Having had the Xperia Active for a few months now, I'm pretty happy with the "rugged" side of it. Use the camera quite a bit though and the recessed camera lens is a pain to keep clean. Have to dismantle the phone every time I take a picture to wipe pocket dust off it. Definitely a consideration if you're looking at Xperia vs this or vs the defy range. I've been looking to change over to defy but they're not getting gingerbread it seems.

no offense, but it seems like the great Defy is better-looking than this one

not much legitimate competition against Defy for best tough/smart/good-looking combo phone (aside from Xperia Active, that i thought was too chubby and too small of a screen for me)

what i would like to see is actually solid phones designed for everyday bangs and drops - rather than high gloss, fancy style eye catchers and then the occasional phone for the war zone. style sells but what about practicality and ergonomics over and above?

I'm curious about the GPS sensitivity. Other Samsung Smart phones I'm familiar with have difficulty acquiring the GPS satellites and holding them.

I don't suppose there is any point in pointing out the difference between a rugby ball and an American football is there?

What have they been smoking

Maybe they think that you perhaps have a spare headphone lying around, we have a 3.5 mm jack anyway
