23 May 2012
With the dust still settling from one of the most exciting smartphone battles the industry has seen, and clouds of stardust swirling around a complete review, it's time to step back and take a sober look at two great phones. Two glorious chapters in...

Thank you for the comparison. Frankly if you are not a gaming freak with a head in the sand, there is no compelling reason to buy the SIII over the SII. The average person wants a good signal and voice clarity (remember the days when this was important) now a decent camera, perhaps video, ease of texting, and occasion access to the internet. Most apps are a waste of time as are games. I have a Note and a BB, but would be happy just with a larger and workable BB, so hopefully it will happen

S beam, Direct call, Smart stay.. . . WTF! The folk at samsung seem like a bunch of 4 year olds giving silly names to every little feature.

Of course. Paying a laptop price for such crappy phone is a real waste of hard earned money. Now who is following whose foot steps?

I don't think spending few extra hundred dollars justifies the extra features you get with Galaxy S III compared to Galaxy Nexus. Nexus will set you back only $400 (compared to $800 or so for SGS III). You lose a bit in battery, performance, processing power but price/feature ratio is much better, in my opinion. I'd take galaxy nexus over sgs 3 any day.

A very good article ... many thanks GSM Arena team. I was waiting for such article and you did it :-).

However, I really hoped that they would also have a 4" or 4.2" screen too.

                  Thanks again,

All of us must agree, Samsung delivered what we expected more from S2.

                    Better performance.

Better screen(Don't go on the PenTile, the review explains why).

                    Better TouchWiz and Softwares.

And most important, Better BATTERY LIFE.

GSMarena, please correct the SGS2 Quadrant result !!! My phone is with stock 4.03 and the result is always 4100+ !!!

i've used gsmarena photo and video compare tools and compared these phones: nokia n8 ,galaxy s3 ,s2,iphone 4s,xperia s,htc one x,and one s and these are my results :
the best still camera phone is nokia n8 next to it and very close the s3 ,the 3rd place went to the iphone 4s.

the best video camera phone is the galaxy s3 next to it and very close the iphone 4s,the 3rd place went to xperia s.

this is the first time that i see a phone that can beat the iphone in the video recording.

also i would like to confirm that the one s camera is better than the one x camera but both are no match for the other phones.

After reading this review it has only made me want the new SGS even more though xD. If this is what Samsung describes as a minor upgrade (compare it to the difference between iPhone 4-4S), then what will the SGSIV be if it is a major upgrade :O

That said hyperglaze does make it LOOK like cheap plastic even though it actually makes it even more scratch resistant.
