about the NUC its the network unlock code, if you have got this device from your service provider so it will be locked only to use it with your SVC. provider network only. so you need to contact your service provider and ask him to provide you with your handset NUC code to unlock the handset to be able to use another network simcard on it.
if you have purchased this handset by your self not from your provider so there is no need to have the NUC code, the handset then should work in USA normaly since the roaming is activetd for your phone number.
If you can provide me with the IMEI number of the handset (serial number) you can find it under the battery , on the box or dial *#06# i'll try to get you this one.

Hello Everyone,
I have just bought the phone before almost a month and find out that the phone is awesome. Previously i was using E71 and then changed to 5800. Its a IPOD duplicate in much less price. The speaker sound is very good as I use it for business conferences. The most amazing thing is that I have downloaded a S60 MSN and it can allow the phone to hv a web cam chat.
music: Superb, mind blowing sound in ears and speakers.
video: Cool in the 16:9 screen
Camera:Not very good for night pics for day shoot is acceptable.
reception: Good, haven't find any issues.
speaker phone: Very nice.
browser: Good.
wifi: Works superb
Fring usage: Perfect for voice chat.
MSN usage: ok but sometimes it is painfull to type in the small key board, but if u make it big its fine.
battery: Goes for 2 day if wifi or video is not used more than a hour.
GPS: works fine in the nokia maps.
Hope you will like it. East or west Nokia is the best.

I've just had my Nokia 5800 for last two days,Iwas on a Sony Erricson xperia X1, which is damaged due to dropping on the floor,All things cracked and it shows poor meterial quality! Apart from that the X1 is slow even though it has a faster procesor,Keys at the bottom are too close and your chance of picking wrong menu is too high! Phone tend to hang and you may have to reset the phone,Signal quality is too poor,For instance on a vodafone network in my office with X1 it is almost useless, on the same note Nokia 5800is absoultely brilliant,Speaker phone is crap,Email never works properly( Iam saying all this because I have used X1 & 5800 for same appliactions and know the differance) maps application on Nokia is much faster
Touch pads are more responsive on Nokia
Overall it shows like Nokia has done more home work that X1 people in getting the feed back and utilising them prperly
I was only after a phone which can handle my phone calls and serve as a email platform,I thought Sony X1 as a brilliant choice, but after three months of use I would give a rating of 4 out of 10
So given all the pros and cons dear friends If y ou going for X1 think twice!!!
I will put my money on Nokia 5800

actually, the mentality is that if nd only if a fone is faulty, ppl wil log on and write bad posts ab8 it...compared to 1 positive post, i can see atleast 5 or 6 negative posts for ne damn fone...dats most of da "bad" views r aired in such kinds of forum...

Chances are, the later you wait, the better the hardware and firmware of the phone are gonna' be.

I kno... moreDon't worry this phone is grate really, the only camera in the night it's a bit timing flash problem, but if you use "night portrait" mode in settings, than is okay with night pictures!
Don't worry about thos guys who talk negative things, they are iphone/winmo jealous, or they can't afford it, or they don't know how to use it, and they come here to complain with negative thoughts to get the truth out of it!

guys, why do all of your handsets give problems???
I know gsm arena for good phone specs and accurated reviews but geeez guys ur comments are always negative.
I wanted a N73, and came here for spec and user options, all negative and i went ahead and git the phone - BRILLIANT device, never gave me problems, NOT EVER it got it for over 2yrs now and its still going strong..
Then i was due for a upgrade, 6110nav came here again and got the negativity AGAIN from you guys, despite all that i got the phone, ANOTHER WONDERFUL DEVICE from NOKIA, beautifull mach - great features and works like a dream, have that for a year :)
Now I'm here for this phone, 5800XM and here you are complaining... but since I see u guys are either buying CHEAP coys or FAKE PHONES as i'll go get one anyway and will use it for years to come

Had been using it for bout 2 weeks aft its official launch in singapore..at first few days was ok,but after keep giving problem lik memory card cant detect n hang even all power button also cant off it so have to take out battery to restart it..touch function not sensitive enough unless using a stylus..features not bad and loud speakers,build so so find bit chunky compare to ode touchscreen fones..the first nokia fones tat i sold it off within 2 weeks in such a short period of time..

Good start from Nokia. Touch screen phones are becoming the in thing since iPhone hit the stores. Sound quality and song download through Nokia Comes with Music is great. The concept of CWM is pretty pointless esp when you cannot transfer to a/c to another Nokia phone or renew it after 1yr. Its tied to pretty much the phone you buy and the format is only recognized and played on that phone or PC.
Camera is really a wash out. I've seen better 3.2MP camera phones from Nokia. The e90 and n73 were marvellous. Nokia is starting to put cheap components into these low to mid end phones. Calling it Carl Zeiss ... yeah right! Overall, very dissapointed with 5800XM, lets hope the N97 brings some relief to this.
